'Hold On Tight' is the debut album from Hey Monday, it consists of a grand total of eleven tracks and what a fine display of powerpop it is too. It's the vocal performance of Cassadee Pope that makes this band so special; she has an absolutely phenomenal voice and always here her vocal sound is a joy to behold. The vocals are cleanly sung out with great power and the style with which Pope sings is just absolutely beautiful. She's got a wonderful voice; one of the greatest female vocalists I've heard for a long while now, even stronger than that of her contemporary Hayley Williams in fact.

As the band launches its way through this album it's always the vocals that striking you so strongly, add to this the fact that every track comes complete with a super catchy guitar riff and exquisitely fine chorus however and you have a phenomenal formula indeed. Every element of the music is so well constructed, in each and every area the Hey Monday sounds shines and never do any of these eleven tracks disappoint. You're waiting for the weakest link to emerge, never does it do so however and all eleven of these tracks are simply magnificent. Hey Monday is such a strong powerpop band; one of the best bands of this kind I've heard for a long while now.

Take a listen to some of the band's tracks; 'Homecoming', 'Candles', and '6 Months' are three tracks that all should hear, 'Homecoming' for its sheer excitement factor, 'Candles' for its incredible use of chorus, and '6 Months' for the fine way with which it brings this album to an end. '6 Months' is the albums slow paced closing anthem; a relaxing little track and one which brings the 'Hold On Tight' album to an absolutely perfect climax. Everywhere on the album there is supreme quality here; always the music is exceptional and never for a second does this supreme powerpop sound fail to impress. If you've got a penchant for powerpop then I challenge you to name a greater band than this; Hey Monday truly is excellent and I fail to think of any band of this kind that has ever come out with a greater debut album.

Hey Monday is such a strong band, I've said it before and I'll now say it again; it's the voice of Cassadee Pope which makes the music of Hey Monday sound so strong, her vocal tone is near on perfect and every note she hits strongly and with great passion and heart. Instrumentally the music also has much to offer, there's top-notch quality all round here and for a fun packed supremely joyous listening experience then most definitely consider giving this 'Hold On Tight' album a listen; you'll surely not regret the decision in the slightest.
