HID Headlights On Your Vehicle

Ranked #5,880 in Cars, #302,814 overall

Considering HID Headlights?

Adding modifications, such as installing clear lights to your turn signals, HID Bulbs to your headlights and clear corners to your turn signals to the your car really shows love and appreciation for your car. Even if it's something extremely simple that only takes a little time to do, it shows that you want your car to look dope. Some people may even go so far to say that the style and taste of your ride reflects the image of you and your personality. Check out the people who buy flashy, expensive rides, the do this because they've had a taste of success and decided to enjoy it. Usually the people that add touches to their vehicle are also creative people as well.

HID Headlights Can Get You Pulled Over

When you're adding mods to your car, this doesn't necessarily mean that you need to follow the same trends as everybody else. The trends in Asian countries have been coming to North America. Some of the mods do look good on these vehicles, but I find several cars that has taken this style and made their car look stupid.

What you should know is that HID Headlights can be against the law and there is a chance of being ticketed. If you've surfed the internet, you might have seen stories about people being pulled over for this.

What You Need To Know About HID Lights

If you look on the box of HID Headlights, there's a good chance that it says something like: "DOT Approved." DOT stands for Department of Transportation. If your bulbs say they're DOT Approved, will you be safe from being ticketed? For the record, the DOT has never approved aftermarket HID Headlights and actually have no plans on approving them in the near future. If you get pulled over by the Police and you tell them the bulbs are DOT Approved, there's a very good chance that it won't matter.

But how can HID Headlights be illegal when everybody has them on their vehicles nowadays? Auto Manufacturers are installing HID Headlights to newer vehicles, but Police aren't having problems with these. It's the aftermarket modifications that Police are cracking down on.

Prevent Being Pulled Over

What can you do to prevent getting pulled over? To begin, be sure not to buy "knock off" versions of the HID Bulbs. If you get pulled over and have fake bulbs installed, there is a chance of getting into deeper trouble when it comes to being ticketed. The reason why is because the fake HID Bulbs are actually Halogen Bulbs that have a blue tint added to the lens. Depending on an Officer's mood, he could ticket you for having 'Emergency Colored' bulbs installed to your vehicle. Red and blue bulbs are reserved for the Police Department and other emergency assistance. The way Police check to see if your bulbs are fake is they take a blank white sheet of paper and hold it up to the light. If the bulb turns the paper blue, you have fake HID lights. If the bulbs shine white, your HID lights are legitimate.

Another reason why you may be pulled over for HID Headlights is because they were installed improperly. Be sure that your bulbs aren't blinding other drivers and are shining in the right direction instead of upwards.

If your bulbs are extremely bright and glaring off of objects, you will get pulled over. You should be safe if you stick with HID Headlights that are around 6000k-8000k. Installing anything brighter will bring unwanted attention to you.

HID Headlights will improve lighting on the road and will also give your vehicle a new and fresh look. HID Lights are three times brighter than your standard Halogen bulbs. Your viewing radius will increase up to 75% once HID Headlights are installed. As a matter of fact, lack of visibility is the number one cause of auto accidents at night.
