My cousin brother had just come in to my house and it was after a long time that we were meeting. I had never seen his son and when I met him he was already 5 years old. When the family walked into my house I was working on my computer. So I left it switched on. I was busy talking to my brother when I heard the kid asking, "Uncle, can I use your computer". I was surprised at the fact that this 5 year old kid knew how to use a computer. No later did I say "yes", pat came the next question. "Do you have internet on your system? Can you connect it to the internet?" I connected my system to the internet and waited to see what this kid was doing. That was when I first started playing online games. I have since then been an addict for playing online and bettering scores. The options available are many when you go online but I love playing hidden objects online games the most.

What is it that distinguishes online games from other proprietary video games? What is so addicting in online games and not there in these proprietary video games?

I was an ardent fan of video games. I spent a few hundred dollars to buy the "Age of Empires series". I would finish off the game in 3 months and then the game was obsolete and I had to wait for another couple of years for the next version to be released. In the meantime I would switch to a new game and would have a shell out a few hundreds again to buy this game only to find that I have finished it in another one month and am waiting for the next version. When I switched over to playing online games, I found that I could did not have to wait for a new version to be released after I finish off one game. I could play any game of my choice out of a few thousand games available online and could keep switching between them whenever I wanted to. So what are the advantages of playing online?
1. The most important is that I can play the games of my choice and keep switching between them whenever I want to. The moment I feel bugged of playing a particular game I would switch over to a new one without having to worry of the fact that I have spent my hard-earned dollars in buying it and that I just cannot discard it.
2. Proprietary video games are programs that span into 200-330 MBs and would start weighing heavy on my Computer's hard disk and memory. If I want to install a third game I have to uninstall the first, or else my computer starts getting angry with me. The only other choice is to go ahead and buy a high-end gaming computer which would span into $ 5000 - $ 6000. I just cannot afford to, I am not sure about you.
3. There is a competitive edge in playing online. You compete against live players and every day you would find a new player who has a new style and strategy unlike the computer whose style and strategy remains the same and which you can predict when you have played about 5-6 times.
4. The cost factor is another important consideration. The charge that you would pay while playing online is nominal in comparison to a proprietary video game. In the latter you would only regret at the end of the 3rd month (when you have completed all the stages) that you have just wasted so much of money.
5. The best of all is that you have an option of downloading games from these sites that offer to play online games at a very nominal charge. So you have the best of both the worlds.

With all the advancement in technology, playing online is no lesser than playing proprietary video games. It is a choice now available to a gaming freak. I am not a professor of online games but I prefer playing online and I believe that you too would, if you try once.
