Highcross Leicester
On the 4th September this year (2008) the Highcross shopping mall was opened in Leicester. This huge shopping mall took the place of the smaller Shires shopping centre that once stood on the same grounds.
Costing over £350 million ($621 million) to build the Highcross Leicester has been something the people of the East Midlands have been long awaiting for.

The Building and Launch of the Highcross
On its opening day the new Highcross Leicester shopping mall received a huge 125,000 visitors!
In total the new Highcross shopping mall has a whopping 110,000 square metres of retail space which puts its size in the same league as international shopping centres like the Bull Ring in Birmingham.
The Highcross has many shops from high end fashion labels to high street names, it has many different dining venues bringing international flavours and a huge cinema complex all supported by the flagship John Lewis store.
