What are the Top 5 High Quality Headphones on the Market?

What's the use of having the best mp3 player on the market if you're listening to your music with crappy headphones? Don't be a victim of bad sound quality by using low quality headphones.

Noise cancellation headphones are some of the best selling headphones to date. As a frequent music festival attendee, I can tell you that without high quality noise canceling headphones, the music just doesn't sound as good! If your headphones are not blocking out other noises, you're missing part of the experience.

(plus, if you're attending a festival such as Bonnaroo and you're camping out, the noise cancellation headphones go a long way in helping you get a good night's sleep!)

Here are my top 5 pics for the best quality headphones on the market...

Drum roll please...

Number One - Sennheiser

Sennheiser headphones make number one on my list due to their superior sound quality. They are very comfortable to wear and they don't tear up easily, which is very important for those of us who are hard on their sound equipment. The bass is amazing and clear and they make even the worst music sound better.

Here's a user review:

"I bought these headphones without actually holding them or testing them first, so I had no idea what to expect. I took them on a trip to Africa and was completely satisfied with them. So, here are my oppinions:
Sound: 5 stars. Could use a little more bass, but that can be changed with your equalizer. Noise Canceling: 5 stars. Took out all the engine noises and most of the talking around me. Comfort: 5 stars. They took a bit of getting used to, but after wearingthem for 10 hours stait, they are very comfortable. They also work without the noise canceling which is very nice. There is alittle white noise with the NC on, but all NC's have that. VERY sturdy feel, and nice case. Love them. "

Number Two - Bose

Bose headphones get an A+ for quality but a B for price. These won't be the best headphones for someone on a budget, but if you have an unlimited amount of money, this is the way to go!

Be prepared to stock up on AAA batteries and be very happy with the result. These are actually really good for frequent fliers because the noise cancellation feature is the best one money can buy.

Here's a user review:

"I have spent in excess of $400 trying to find the right earbuds that have great bass. These headphones are at any Apple store (they use them to demo the Ipods, but are not for sale). When I tried them with the Ipod, I was blown away. I wear them jogging, hiking & to the Gym (perfect for this - the phones shut out that horrible music selected by my Gym). You will have no regrets here, your search is over."

Number Three - Able Planet Headphones

These headphones get my vote for most comfortable! They've won lots of awards, too, which is always a good sign. They use Linx Audio Technology which was first developed for high end hearing aids.

When you get a pair of Able Planet Headphones, you will get the headphones, removable cord, 1/8- and 1/4-inch stereo adapters, two-prong airline adapter, hard-shell carrying case and the user's manual.

Here's a user review:

"A colleague let me borrow these for a trip to China -- I already own a pair of Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones, but my wife was using those on the trip. Being able to compare these side by side, I have to say the Bose still win in terms of total noise cancellation. However, for the money, these have very good noise cancellation, plus a couple of features that the Bose do not. These will still operate when the power/noise cancelling is turned off (the Bose don't), and the inline volume control is really helpful so you don't have to fumble for your MP3 player or the airplane seat controls to adjust the volume (again, the Bose don't have this).

For the money, these are a great alternative to the Bose if you're looking for over the ear noise cancelling headphones."

Number Four - Audio-Technica Headphones

Here's a user review:

"I'll say this first off: I don't record, DJ, or do any mixes with this headphone (no prosumer work). These Audio Technica M50's (straight cable) are used purely for listening to my music. One phrase comes to mind about these cans: O MiE GaWd!

I currently own these and the Beyerdynamic DT-770 pro (80 ohm), and have owned everything under the sun from Bose's headphone offerings; except their noise-canceling variants, although I've heard those as well. The M50's overall are the best sounding period that I've heard yet. They sound so ridiculously good that I can't even imagine if I need, let alone want to hear more expensive offerings."

Number Five - Koss Headphones

From the website:

Designed to monitor outside noise received through specially mounted microphones in each ear cup. Koss QZ900 circuit introduces a sound wave which is 180° out of phase with the incoming signal. The result is "zero earth" at the point of the eardrum and dramatic reduction of most low frequency distractions, resulting in deep rich lows and sparkling highs, noise canceling ability so good you'll need less volume for greater efficiency and less distortion from overdriving the tiny amplifier in your portable electronics.

QZ900 operates with or without active noise canceling circuit engaged. Features a removable cord and an on line volume control and 1 standard AAA battery which provides approximately 50 hours of active noise cancellation.
