Dogs love to hike!

Hiking with my Mum and my sis, Gracie, just may be one of my most favorite activities - besides agility of course!

And hiking is great exercise for both me and Mum. We started hiking as part of my agility conditioning program - because jumping over those logs, chasing a few squirrels, and hiking up and down hills is a wonderful way for me to get in shape for agility.

But the best part is we do it for fun! We get to see lots of great scenery, smell some wonderful fresh air (and dead stuff, too), and we get to spend time together having a great time.

Read on about how you and your pup can have a great time hiking!

Important hiking gear for your pup!

  • First Aid for the Active Dog

First Aid for the Active Dog is a book that you'll want to take with you on all your agility travels. This book contains first aid treatments for common dog injuries and emergencies your dog might encounter during agility, hiking, or any outdoor activity. It also includes guidelines for illness and accident prevention and explains how to evaluate the seriousness of your dog's illness or injury.
  • Deluxe Canine First Aid Kit

Accidents can happen so be prepared. The Deluxe Canine First Aid Kit is a high-quality first aid kit designed just for dogs. It contains over 40 veterinarian-recommended emergency items in a blue padded and insulated Thermos carrying case that is 10"L x 7"W x 3"D. This first aid kit also contains a 112-page book, Emergency First Aid for Your Dog by Dr. Tamara S. Shearer, which fits conveniently inside the cover of the kit.
  • Tick Tool

The Tick Tool was designed to make removing ticks simple and safe, and to reduce the risk of infection while removing a tick from a dog or another person. The Tick Tool features a "scoop and close" design. The "V" notch automatically guides the tool to the point were the tick's mouthparts are penetrating the victim's skin, allowing The Tick Tool to quickly remove even the smallest ticks. The patented slide closure captures the tick in the collection scoop, eliminating the mad rush to the toilet or trashcan to dispose of the tick. Meets CDC guideslines for safely removing ticks from people and dogs.
  • Hydro Bowl Portable Water Bowl

Next time your pooch is pantin' for a drink, pull out the convenient, collapsible Hydro Bowl. Waterproof and made of a high-tech, durable plastic canvas, the Hydro Bowl folds up and snaps closed into a compact triangle for storage. Attach it to a leash, backpack, bicycle, or a variety of other places for easy storage.
  • Ruff Wear Approach Pack

This pack was designed to be an everyday pack with excellent performance, fit and functionality. Give your dog a load to carry and a job to do.

  • Rufflective Safety Vest for Dogs

Keep your dog visible day and night with this vibrant nylon mesh vest. 100% water resistant nylon with strips of 3M reflective tape on it.

  • Ruff Wear Bark'n Boots GripTrex

Boots to provide your dog with all-condition, all-terrain, all-season paw protection. Durable with a comfortable fit and made to stay on tight.

  • Ruff Wear Swamp Cooler

Outfit your dog in the Swamp Cooler to stay cool, happy and active in the hot summer weather. Let the cooling begin!

  • Ruff Wear K-9 Float Coat

The K-9 Float Coat keeps dogs safe whenever they are in or around water, providing flotation and high visibility.

  • Ruff Wear K-9 Overcoat

Keep your dog warm this winter! The K-9 Overcoat reduces the loss of core body heat protecting dogs from wind, rain, snow, brush and burrs.

Johann, I didn't know that you were into hiking like I am. I want to get a dog to do hiking with, even more now. Keep that tail wagging, and give Mum a puppy kiss! :)
