WELCOME TO HILARIOUS HOPS!

At HILARIOUS HOPS, where malt and mirth flow freely, we're sure there are more than a few brilliant beer brands that will make you smile, snicker or snort out loud.

So, without further ado, the Guru of Brew will introduce you to the lighthearted labels being showcased in our wild watering hole, The Buffoon Saloon and our sister suds sensation, the Wild Ass Saloon.

What's on tap at the Wild Ass Saloon?

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEERHOLDER AND THE BUFFALO THEORY OF DRINKING:

A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo, and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the culling of the weakest members.

In much the same way the human brain can only operate as fast as its slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But it naturally attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

And when all is said and done, that's why everyone always feel smarter after a few beers and why most beer-drinkers have to admit that, "beauty is in the eye of the beerholder."

Beer doesn't make you fat, it makes you lean...against bars, tables, chairs and walls.

I'LL HAVE WHAT THE GENTLEMAN ON THE FLOOR IS HAVING!

Well, if you're dropping by the "Wild Ass Saloon", just make sure you ask for Buzzard Breath Ale, (it's the one you can smell for miles around!)

Oh, and before you enter these potty premises, pay attention to these rules:

1. "Never ever ask a man the size of his spread."

2. "Be sure to taste your words before you spit'em out."

3. "Always say 'please' when you tell somebody else to shut up!"

4. "Don't hang your hat on someone else's peg."

5. "Avoid any food that would gag a buzzard."

6. "Baloney is baloney no matter how thin you slice it."

7. "Don't try to drown your sorrows, they know how to swim."

8. "Don't squat with yer spurs on."

9. "Never show your roll."

10. "Never - under any circumstances - admit that you like to cook."

LESSONS FROM LARRY LUGNUT - HOW TO COOK WITH BEER

Beer Cheese Soup

Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter (yup, it clogs your arteries and gives you great big love handles)
3 cups chicken broth (soup minus the chicken)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (a jolly old English condiment)
1/2 cup chives (green onions to add some color to the mix)
1 cup flour (white stuff that comes in a bag that you mix with water and make glue!)
16 ounces cheez whiz (the lazy cook's best friend)
6 ounces beer (good God don't drink them yet!)
1 1/2 cup cream (no, you can't substitue low-calorie whipped cream in a can)

Preparation:

1. Melt butter (which means you can pop it in a pot and heat it ever so slightly on low heat on a stove making sure it doesn't burn, melt it in a plastic container in your microwave, or you can hit it with your handy-dandy blow-torch ...whatever turns your crank).

2. Add small amount of broth to flour; mix, then add to butter mixture.

3. Remove from heat, beat with wire whip (an eggbeater will make a mess and an egg flipper won't do the trick, trust me).

4. Add remaining ingredients (i.e. whatever's left over on the kitchen counter).

5. Cook on low heat in slow cooker 4 hours or all day (lazy lugnuts love this).

6. Top with popcorn (when it comes to counting calories...popcorn is your friend).

Note: Two years ago the state of Connecticut tried to ban the sale of "Seriously Bad Elf", contending that the label which depicted an elf with a slingshot firing Christmas ornaments at Santa's sleigh, might entice young people to buy the beer. Fortunately for them, someone in the state liquor control office must have had a festive funnybone because the decision was quickly reversed and the beer began to show up in...you guessed it..."Christmas stockings which were hung by the chimney with oodles of care"!

FREE SUDS FOR SAUSAGE DOGS!

Has this Bavarian cafe gone bonkers?

Well, apparently "The Bunter Hund" cafe in Vienna, Austria thinks cashing in on the canine version of the famous Munich beer festival, with a bit of beer for bow-wows.

However, only dachshunds drink free in this curious cafe, since the "weiner dog" is considered Bavaria's favorite four-legged pooch.

Note: All other breeds will have to pay for their beer. Now the only question is how much do they intend to charge those thirsty weiner-dog owners?
