Hinder (verb): 1. To be or get in the way of. 2. To obstruct or delay the progress of. 3. To interfere with action or progress.

Let nothing 'hinder' your appreciation of the subtleties purveyed by this Oklahoma City fivesome, who are collectively dedicated to bringing back the good old decadent days when sex, drugs and rock & roll weren't dirty words, but a way of life.

Hinder started in Oklahoma City

In April 2003, before making it big, Hinder entered the March Bandness contest for Oklahoma City radio station KHBZ-FM (94.7). They made it to the Final Four out of a field of thirty-two, ultimately losing to the OKC group Falcon Five-O.

They released their first EP titled Far from Close in 2003 on an independent record label, Brickden Records. It sold about 5,000 copies. The three members then began working on new material in 2004 for their next independent release. These demos caught the attention of several major record labels.

After being offered record deals by Atlantic, Roadrunner, and Universal Records, Hinder signed with Universal Records in 2005. Although Allmusic called Extreme Behavior one of the year's worst albums, throughout 2005 the album was heavily anticipated, and Hinder won the monthly Launch "Who's Next" contest for emerging bands. The Brian Howes produced album, Extreme Behavior, was then set for release in the United States.

Hinder entered the rock scene with their debut single "Get Stoned." The band then toured in support of their album, Extreme Behavior. The band's second single, "Lips of an Angel," did far better on the charts, hitting #1 on several, and garnered international attention. The band's followed with a third single ,"How Long" continuing with releases of "Better Than Me," and "Homecoming Queen."

Extreme Behavior by Hinder 

Get Stoned, Lips Of An Angel, Homecoming Queen

In the liner notes to their major label debut, Oklahoma City's Hinder endorse tequila, Belvedere, Crown Royal, Jagermeister, and Mr. Watson 540. In "Get Stoned," photogenic Austin Winkler (who sounds tougher than he looks) rasps, "Let's go home and get stoned." Later, he adds, "The break-up is worth the make-up sex you're givin' me." In "Bliss (I Don't Wanna Know)," the lead singer laments, "The vodka's running on empty." This is a problem because, "I can't stay sober/if it's over." But things pick up in "Room 21" where he meets a "b*tch" with "red lipstick and pale pink boots," who shows him a good time (yes, he said boots). And he doesn't even know her name! The days of big hair-and-spandex metal may be long gone, but in songwriting terms, Hinder's music is a throwback to the politically incorrect Sunset Strip days of Guns N' Roses, LA Guns, and Faster Pussycat.

"Better Than Me" from Hinder

The music video for the song starts with the band playing in a dark room. Then it goes to scenes of a young couple. The young man later buys Methamphetamine from a dealer in a pickup truck. The next scene is of him looking at pictures of them together. He takes a knife and breaks a light bulb, pours the drugs into it, and puts it onto the stove. We then see his violent, painful reaction to the drugs, including seizures and itching all over his body. The girl walks in, sees the drugs, and confronts him. He becomes violent and begins to throw things at her. The lights of the room the band was in are turned on and it is revealed to be a cathedral. The funeral of the young man seen earlier is in progress, and it is clear that he died from an overdose. The girlfriend rushes forward to his casket and puts an envelope into his hands.

Lips of an Angel Video by Hinder 

It was the second single off of the Extreme Behavior album

The lyrics deal with a singer describing his feelings when his assumed ex-girlfriend calls him late at night. They are both in relationships at the time, however the singer tells of how his feelings are still predominantly with her, and it seems hers are also still with him. More than once, a reference to the call being secret is made, and the singer expresses concern of a fight ensuing as a result. The song concludes just as it began, with the singer questioning to why she is calling so late.

"Get Stoned" is the debut single of Hinder

"Get Stoned" is the debut single of Oklahoma rock band Hinder. It charted at #4 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the United States. It was the iTunes free song of the week in the summer of 2005. It is also the first track from their debut album, Extreme Behavior. The hook of this song consists of a section of the guitar solo from Born to Be Wild by the band Steppenwolf, which Hinder later covered.
