Hip Hop Music Beats: Making them today is easier than ever
That's right...making hip hop music beats these days is easier than it has ever been. There's more resources and more tools out there than ever before that let you get the nitty gritty done. I remember years ago, to make some decent beats to rap over, I had to hook up a synthesizer, an MPC (my sampler), my mixer, and my 8-track recorder. I thought I was on top of the world because I didn't have to actually play any kind of instrument, and I didn't have to find some numbskull rock drummer to lay down some beats so I could spit some rhymes over. Little did I know, that compared to today's process of laying down beats, I actually had it kind of bad,lol. These days it's easier than ever...I just load up my favorite beat making software and within minutes I've got some pretty solid beats going on. You know the kind of hip hop music beats I'm talking about.......the one's that make the ladie's shake their thing in the videos.. luv that $h!**!

I was using the wrong tools
Having the right tools to make your hip hop music beats can make the difference between getting some beats done and staring at a blank screen or empty sequencer pattern. So how do you know if you have found the right tools or not? Well, I used to ask myself the same question. I had several pieces of hardware years ago. By the time I would get them all connected, I would lose almost all inspiration. I would just sit there and random hit buttons, turn knobs, add notes and beats...but it always sounded amateur. A few years later, I paid a thousand bucks for this "pro" software...damn thing had so many menus and options that I wasn't sure what I was doing. It took me close to a year before I figured out how to make a few simple hip hop music beats...but even then it would take me a while to do it fluidly, without much thought. Then I found the right software for making hip hop music beats...

And I'm not kidding, either. I found the perfect software for making hip hop music beats. It basically used a step sequencer much like some of my old hardware did ( to this day, I'm not sure why most software packages insist on using a piano roll...they're so unintuitive if you come from a hip hop background). But it also had a selection of some of the best samples I had ever heard...and I had accumulated ten years worth of sample CD's. If I were to take all these sample CD's and condense the best of the best into a smaller selection of about a thousand...my newly found software of choice had them! Just hearing a few of these samples would make my mind go all whack, and I'd get whole ideas for hip hop music beats.
