Rap Music Sustains The Test Of Time

Rap Music has been going strong for over 30 years. The hip hop culture has had it's ups and downs but it continues to grow strong each and every day. Throughout all the turmoil and drama hip hop culture has managed to evolve into episodic television series, major films and more recently reality shows.

Hip Hop Mixtapes Are The Driving Force Behind Hip Hop Music Today

Many people believed hip hop was a short fad that would disappear in a few years when it first arrived. A greater number of people thought hip hop music would be completely dead by now. With its sometimes foul language, blatant truths and unique yet enormous appeal to hip hop music still lives today.

Hip hop music has overcome many obstacles and had its fair share of problems over the years but the music and it's artists have managed to keep hip hop music completely relevant.

Over the past few years hip hop rappers have had to make a great deal of changes to obtain new listeners to buy the music they make due to the internet and online piracy.

Not too long ago the only thing a rapper needed to do was create a few good songs and produce a quality hip hop video for the best songs on his record to gain decent recognition and quality record sales. Today's savvy hip hop audience demand a lot more than a few good songs and a subpar rap video.

Despite the difficulties that exist to stay relevant in hip hop culture, many artists have found new ways to generate buzz to their music. A great deal of rappers have been frequently producing mixtapes and have been releasing them online to generate new fans and keep their current fans interested. Hip hop mixtapes have become the ultimate tool to test the market for most rappers.

Once a venue for struggling rappers trying to get noticed by big record labels, hip hop mixtapes are now constantly being released by major rappers like Drake, Lil Wayne and 50 Cent. Some rappers are releasing mixtapes monthly and even weekly.

Quite simply, if the public enjoys the free mixtape the rapper distributes online, they are more likely to buy the retail version of the artist's music when it's released in the store.

The last few years have seen more mixtapes released by major and small artists than any other period in hip hop. No longer can the artist stay relevant by releasing a few hip hop videos and a couple of mediocre songs.

The public demands more from the artist, and most artists are making huge strides to give the public more. The artist knows he needs to make these new changes to make money and stay relevant.

Throughout the years hip hop has constantly done a good job to stay relevant. It will really be interesting to see what the next few years have in store for hip hop.
