Obama Administration Proposes Big Cuts to NASA's Mars Programs
Artist's conception of ExoMars mission, from which NASA has withdrawn. Credit: ESA NASA just released its presidential budget request for 2013 and, as expected, the space agency’s planetary science program takes a big hit. The budget document ( summary pdf ) is merely the first volley in an often drawn-out exchange between the White House and Congress, but still sets the general direction for the space program. Although the Obama administration’s proposal would slice less than 1 percent from NASA s current budget, it proposes some major shifts of funds within the agency. [More]
Science of Speed Dating Helps Singles Find Love
As a psychologist, I have always found the concept of speed dating fascinating. During a series of mini dates, each spanning no more than a couple of minutes, participants in a speed-dating event evaluate a succession of eligible singles. They make split-second decisions on matters of the heart, creating a pool of information on one of the more ineffable yet vital questions of our time--how we select our mates. [More]

Beautiful lens on people helping people within Hawaii and throughout the country. It is amazing how just a small helping gesture can help so many - especially when it is a large group of people making that gesture. Beautiful lens.

There are many interesting things here about our home in Hawaii and around the world. Spreading the Aloha Spirit is always a good thing. I followed the link to your blog and have found it most interesting too. I didn't know they are ow charging to go to Hanauma Bay. Is that just for tourist or do local people have to pay to go to the beach too? It locals gotta pay, Queen Liliuokalani and Queen Emma are rolling in their graves for sure! Auwe! That certainly is not helping the people of Hawaii.
