Start a Birthday Banner Tradition in your Family!

I remember when my first child turned one and we bought that 1.99 banner at the party store to hang up for the big day. There were so many important things going on, that the banner was the least of our concerns. We just wanted the party area to look festive! As mindlessly as I hung it up, I tore it down and threw it away at the end of the party. But then came the year I found the Happy Birthday Banner. It was cloth, colorful, a bit of a splurge (at $49), but it was so beautiful....I just had to have it! I proudly hung it across the fireplace at my son's celebration. It was a huge hit.

Soon we had three kids, and so, on the eve of each of their birthdays, as soon as they fell asleep I would hang up the banner, so it was the first thing they would see when they woke up! If we were traveling to relatives for family celebrations, I'd bring the banner along and display it proudly at the festivities. At this point, I've probably used it 50-60 times. In our house, a birthday just isn't a birthday unless we've hung the birthday banner. It's become a tradition, just another thing that makes the day special and well worth the money I spent.

When I look back on what made my kid's birthday parties so special, I think a lot of it had to do with these types of traditions -- party themes would vary, but it was the constants that brought a sense of comfort and belonging. I can see the banner gracing the party photos through the years and each time I take it out, it brings back the wonderful memories of our past celebrations. Who knows? Maybe one day I can break it out at my children's children's party! (though I'm not quite ready for that!)

I hope you enjoy some of these birthday banners I found and start your own family tradition today. It's always good to have some quick and easy decorations on hand. These banners go a long way toward setting the party mood for any birthday party girl or boy, regardless of age!

Personalized Birthday Banners

by Oopsy Daisy

Oopsy Daisy Girl's beach banner

These banners by Oopsy Daisy are gorgeous! Printed on artist's canvas in their San Diego studios, these banners are a great way to create excitement and make your child feel extra special on his or her Birthday. Each one is truly a work of art!

They come with grommets in all four corners and the included decorative tacks make for easy hanging. During the party, guests can sign the back of the banner to create a memorable keepsake for your child or just roll up the banner after the party and store until the following year! The birthday banner can be wiped clean with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and should it wrinkle, the backside may be ironed on a low setting with light steam.

Oopsy Daisy - Fine Art for Kids - is unique because of the quality of the art itself and the method of reproduction. Each piece of art is a top quality canvas reproduction using the Giclee method in which images are produced one at a time. Perfect for bedrooms or playrooms too, they are safe, durable and easy to clean.

All banners are 54 x 12 and available either personalized with your child's name or nonpersonalized (for $10 less). I've divided them up in girl/boy sections though a few could be used for either depending on your child's interests.
