Do you love Hiramaru Kazuya from Bakuman?

Hiramaru is a clever twist character that was slowly introduced in Bakuman as the main characters, Mashiro and Takagi, were working their way to get published in Shonen Jack.

It is believed that he is inspired in Gintama author, Sorachi Hideaki, due to his depressive/lazy personality, his like of animals and the desperation of his editor to get to him to work.

However, he is the classic lazy genius type who brings hilarious moments to the series along with Niizuma Eiji, his counterpart uberworking genius.

Hiramaru is known for his legendary quote:

"Why do people have to work? I just want to eat and sleep!"

- Kazuya Hiramaru

Hiramaru, the lazy genius

He is a 28 year old mangaka who just got started with his series Otters 11, after randomly picking an issue of Shonen Jack while in Tokyo subway, and figured out that this was what he wanted to do. He quit his salaryman job and started working, or 'non-working'.

Within the series, Otters 11 is a gag manga about people who want to change the world but their hands are turned into rocks. The particular artwork and theme is what places the series into the first spots.

Being a chronic hypocondriac, he always finds imaginary diseases that he uses as excuses to not work, but his editor, Yoshida Koji, always bribes him with incentives, including giving him weekly facts on his love interest, Aoki Yuriko.
