Historical Re-enactment Traders

Ranked #564 in Culture & Society, #13,559 overall

A directory of re-enactment traders A to F

This lens aims to be a comprehensive listing for re-enactment traders. A one stop shop where you can find traders listed by name, by historical period, by century, and by what they sell.

I'm known on Squidoo as Pan narrans. I've been re-enacting for over 20 years now and enjoy doing stuff with herbs, swords, and things that go bang.

You can find out more about me on my Profile Page or my web site.

The traders are listed in alphabetical order, so you could just scroll down to find who you want. The entries are on four pages. You can click the link at the bottom of each page to go forward or back, but using the indexes is probably easier .

The alphabetical index is here

The historical period and centuries index is here

The who sells what index is here

Want to be listed in the directory?
Just e-mail me via my Profile Page or go to my web site and follow the Contact Us link.

Something new.
This is a link to a directory of reenactment groups, as opposed to traders and individuals.
If you want your group mentioned, please let me know as described above or via the guestbook.

Really Important Stuff

Terms and Conditions and things

I do not have any commercial connection with any of the re-enactment traders listed in the directory.
They do not pay me and I do not get commission from them.
So any transaction that you make with a trader is strictly between you and them.
I cannot fix things if they go wrong.

Much of the text is supplied by traders. I have accepted it in good faith. The directory is presented as it is. If you find a mistake please tell me and I'll try and correct it as soon as possible.

Links to external web sites worked when I put them in. If you find a broken or redirected link, please tell me and I'll change it as soon as possible. Please note that I am not responsible for the content of external sites.

Anatellaleather

AnatellaleatherAll our leathers are hand-crafted using traditional methods passed down through seven unbroken generations. It is a process that doesn't readily lend itself to automation, as each skin is individual and has to be treated with idividual respect. Every skin will be handled more than twenty times(each time a different operation). The process cannot be rushed and will take more than four weeks from start to finish. The end result is, of course, worth the effort, like a fine wine or a malt whisky.

Annatella leather supply scottish deer skins, raw hides, vegetable tanned skins and much more. All produced at the Barrhead tannery.

Annott's Pots

Annott's Pots is a small pottery business run by myself, Nicky Young, since the 1980's. The business combines my love of History with pottery. I create high quality, individually handcrafted replica pottery, dating from 2400 B.C to the 18th century. To make the product safe for today's market I use modern techniques and glazes. Examples of my work are - black burnished pots, Roman Samian ware, Saxon and Viking pots, Majolica pots, Bellamines, puzzle jugs and pizzle pots. I supply to historic houses, museums, re-enactment societies, T.V. and films e.g. "Troy" and "The Clash of the Titans".

My speciality is producing personalised pottery items designed and created to individual requirements/specifications. I also run various workshops for schools and museums.

Arbalist Armoury

I stock crossbows and at my first market that is exactly what I sold. However, as a Fletcher of some years experience I introduced arrows to my stock. Then a bowyer asked if I would like to sell his products. A potter and two other workers in wood followed. We're not finished yet. More items will follow by the end of 2009. A woodturner has joined us, so expect to see wooden cups, bowls, platters in the near future and we are looking into producing medieval style furniture BUT flatpack style in everything from peasant to Lord of the Manor.

Badgersett- Historical

The Battered Booke Shoppe

A unique collection of (replica) mediaeval books.

Our books are all hand sewn and bound replicas of mediaeval books, but they are NOT facsimiles. The bindings are fully authentic, but the book block itself is made from wood-pulp paper. Laser printing has replaced months of scribing The earliest books were written on vellum but from the 14th century onwards, paper made from rag pulp was used. Both of these are now prohibitively expensive.
There were no significant changes in bookbinding methods between the 8th and 15th centuries, so these books are made to the Living History standard for that period.

Candles For All Ages

Roy and Margaret have undertaken extensive research into the history of lighting and its consequences on society. As costumed performers they can demonstrate candlemaking with an emphasis on various periods - medieval, Tudor, seventeen century, eighteenth century or Victorian. The demonstrations are accompanied by an interesting talk on lighting during that, and other periods. They have artifacts, some original, some reproductions which can be used to give "hands on" experience.

Their workshop is based on that which you would expect to find the 1805 candlemaker to use and their candles are handmade of beeswax to exacting standards.

Candles For All Ages also sell a range of modern candles and other related items.

Our most popular products are made from the extremely lightweight, yet very strong, flattened links, constructed from mild steel and supplied with either round or wedge rivet construction in a number of different ring sizes.

Unlike most suppliers of maille we also offer a complete customisation service, whether fully integrated Coif with Hauberk or Haubergeon complete with mittens, or just ventails added to the coif, a truly bespoke piece of kit.

Dilligaf

dilligafI have been in the Medieval re-enactment scene for some 15 years and have learnt much along the way.

I quickly became aware that it can be a very expensive lifestyle and having little money I found myself having to make most of my own equipment.

Over the years I have turned my hand to most things from making armour, clothes and a tent to the furniture to put in it.

Which brings me to where I am now; I now make affordable, basic campaign furniture, designed for practical use on camp or at home.

The following pictures on this site are a small representation of what I can do but I also cater for specific requirements, so please feel free to contact me if you have any custom designs.

Remember this isn't camping its campaigning!
