FurReal Friends Impact on Comsumer Buying Habits

FurReal Friends are life-like, mechanical "pets" that have become insanely popular among children, parents and grandparents alike. Although a vast majority of consumers tend to think FurReal Friends are brand new, the history of the toy dates back to 2002, which is more than 6 years ago. Here is some interesting history on how the toy has made an impact on consumer buying habits at large.

December 2002 - Hasbro, Inc. develops the very popular FurReal Friends cat. Holiday shoppers frustration levels rise as they seek out the highly coveted Cat, Kasey the Kinderbot and Chicken Dance Elmo. The makers of the second largest toy manufacturer in the world say they would rather run out of the popular toy than have left over inventory.

July 2003 - FurReal Friends helps Hasbro, Inc emerge as a success. Being compared to the Transformers toy rage in the 1980's, these animals top the list on consumer gift lists.
