I'll answer the same way I did on the blog. We value every customr, and I will immediately update this Squidoo lens to reflect the paid-product model. Unfortunately, we can't all be Google, and sometimes must charge for services in order for them to continue.

    OK, a couple of things:

    1. Everyone who got it free still has it free. We grandfathered them in... forever. So when we switched from freemium to the 60-day trial, we didn't force anyone to pay who was already on the service. Who can say that?

    2. It's only about $10/mo. For the service that we provide that still no one else has challenged, it's very fair. And we need to survive just like any other company. And further, we haven't hiked prices during this recession like so many other companies.

    3. What makes you think we're using data from the thousands of sites on HitTail? There is no cross-fertilization, aggregation, or any of that other stuff that companies do to leverage their data further. Everyone'

Until recently, I have been a huge fan of Hittail. I sang its praises to all my friends who have blogs and sites of their own. But then they did away with the free version of Hittail and now only offer free trails for their plus and premium services. However, they still advertise that it is still 100% free for the basic account. I think that's a bit disingenuous.

Connors Communications gets mountains of excellent FREE keyword data from thousands of sites everyday. On top of that competitive edge, they are now charging YOU to use YOUR data to make money with their other lines of business.

They should edit this Squidoo and clarify that it is no longer a "freemium" service. Why did Hittail change anyways?

Been using hit tail since it was first released. Serious webmaster this is one piece of equipment you need in your virtual arsenal. It not allows me to fine tune my sites, hit tail actually tells me long tail phrases I'd probably otherwise miss!

    Kudos hit tail!

I have been using HitTail for sometime now and I am impressed. Based on the keyword suggestions from HitTail, I blogged using these specific keywords and lo, these blog posts are on the first page of Google.
