Urticaria
Urticaria more commonly called hives is a form of a skin rash, which is red and welt like in appearance. A hives outbreak can develop on any part of your body and can last up to 6 weeks if left untreated. If an outbreak exceeds 6 weeks it is then considered chronic hives. It is always advisable to seek professional medical advise from a trained professional such as your Doctor if you notice any unusual welts or bumps . Due to their rather noticeable appearance an outbreak of urticaria can be very embarrassing. The good news is that a hives suffer has many treatment options available to them.
Before trying to seek out a treatment for hives, it is important to understand how hives might have developed. The medical community in general accept the notion that hives can be brought on by an allergic reaction to foods such as peanut butter or shell fish etc... or through another stimulus which might have caused the outbreak to occur. If the outbreak did transpire as a result of an allergic reaction it might be advisable to discontinue the ingestion of said food if at all possible. Once all of the environmental triggers have been ruled out it is at this point that a hives suffer can discuss treatment options with their physician. Most forms of hives will be treated with an over the counter anti-histamine though, a Doctor might choose other prescriptions if they feel it is warranted. The drawback to this treatment option is that it can be cost prohibitive to visit the Doctor and acquire the medication, and if the outbreak returns then it needs to be reassessed by your Doctor and another prescription needs to be filled out. Anther option available to a hives suffer is to the patient is to treat their hives outbreak through homeopathic remedies.
