Collecting Hobby Trains Seen in Northwest Washington
It's nice to have something familiar around, such as photos, figurines and also trains that you see near your home.
Here I will show you BNSF, BN, CN and others seen around Northwest Washington that can be found in hobby train scales.
I have a weakness for keeping any HO scale trains I find that are of road names I see. Especially the green BN's which were most common when I was little.
I met a guy that built a replica of the switching station in his town, he also bought trains that he saw on a regular basis.
Be sure to check out the craz video at the bottom!

The Road Names Around NW Washington

Sometime in the 80's there was a merger and the BNSF, Burlington Northern & Santa Fe became the common train around here. They then painted their engines the colors of the Great Northern as a tribute. It's very nice to see such color.
Seattle and north we can also see CN, Canadian National. They have black and red with white stripes. A very bold and cool color scheme.

The old are mixed in with the new. Very old green and white cabooses with yellow fronts are still used for maintenance crews, new extra long tank cars are all black with tiny BNSF on them, and old hoppers are painted heavily with beautiful graffiti. Brown and tan CN grain hoppers are mixed in with light grey Santa Fe grain hoppers. And long 100 car lines of green and silver BN auto carriers or yellow Trailer Train container cars go by along the shore.

This is about what we see north of Seattle. Just south of Seattle the road names are much more mixed. But I must include the Amtrak and Sounders commuter train.
