Make Hogwarts House Scarves - Harry Potter Accessories

Hogwarts Uniform - the House Scarf

The scarves for each of the Hogwarts Houses are bi-coloured: large red stripes and thinner golden-yellow stripes for Gryffindor; large blue, thin bronze for Ravenclaw; large green, thin silver-grey for Slytherin; and large yellow, thin black for Hufflepuff.

Make a Hogwarts house scarf

Hogwarts Gryffindor ScarfKnit the starting large coloured stripe (red for Gryffindor, blue for Ravenclaw, green for Slytherin, and yellow for Hufflepuff).

Cut the yarn and knot the second colour yarn to the first colour. Knit a thinner stripe.

Note where your reverse side is forming and end the thinner stripe so that the first row of the next thicker stripe keeps the same reverse side.

Cut the second colour yarn and knot the first colour in.

Repeat until your scarf is the desired length.

Use a darning needle to work the cut off tails into the sides of your scarf.

Cut short pieces of the main colour and sew them through - about three pieces at a time - the short ends of the scarf. Tie them together to form tassles.

I'm not sure about the Pottermore. I'm now thinking it's just a marketing ploy. You will only be able to access it with a Sprint phone I think (not sure and I have an iPhone). Anyway, I love this lens. My sister made a really long Gryffindor scarf and gloves to the elbow with fingers and thumb cut out (very cool). She also made a tiny hat and booties for my baby. Great lens!

I don't own any fancy gadgets - I'm able to access the Beta version of Pottermore just through Firefox on my computer. So far it appears to be an expansion of the JK Rowling website, acting as a walkthrough encyclopedia of the books with commentary by JKR on behind the scenes stuff like how the Dursleys got their names, etc.
