Holiday Knitting
Knitting for the Holidays
Each holiday season, I fill my home with knit objects. I bring out my handmade ornaments, hang up the stockings, and carefully wrap my knit presents and place them under the tree. In this lens, I will offer suggestions on where to find knitting patterns to bring the warmth of knitting into your home as decorations and as gifts.
Don't forget that knitting doesn't have to stop when Spring comes! Many of these projects have some relevance year round. Knitting is appropriate of any holiday!

Knitting Accessories Make Great Gifts
The Obvious Knit Gift
Great default knit gifts are winter accessories. Everyone can always use more hats, gloves, mittens and scarves!I love to give hats, scarves and gloves to the people I care about. It is a nice feeling to think that you warm their heart with the gift, but that you can also keep them warm and safe from the elements. When I am knitting a gift, I feel that the love I have for the person fills each and every stitch I make.
The Less Obvious Knit Gift
Ornaments are a great excuse to make itsy bitsy little toys in a way that will do more than collect dust. Not only will your friends be impressed when they see them, but they will be delighted to take one home with them! This year at my holiday/birthday party, I am going to hang a number of hand knit ornaments and let each guest take one home!

- Whenever I hear the news that a friend or relative is expecting, I start making one of my beautiful knit baby blankets. They're from a very old pattern that I have, and make the most beautiful open work blanket to wrap baby in. I've never given one that wasn't ooh-ed and aah-ed over.
