The Basics of Setting the Holiday Dinner Table
First Things First - a Gorgeous Tablecloth
Snowy White Tablecloths
Check these eBay listings for "white tablecloths" in Antiques. Here you will find tablecloths or all shapes and sizes, all types from damask to hand made lace.
One of my personal favorites during the holidays is the "Army Navy Tablecloth". This one features squares of embroidered linen along with squares of lace to give an overall festive appearance.

Oh, I see one in stores complete with 12 napkins for the amazing price of only $120.00. You would expect to pay much more than that! Perfect for the large table of family.
My personal favorites are the 1940s and 1950s printed tablecloths, right now you can get a bargain on these on eBay. Add some vintage napkins with a red border and you have a neat set.

These would be especially charming to use for a neighborhood Egg Nog Party or Cookie Exchange. My personal favorites are the ones with Santa.
Now that you have the base for your table, you will need a great centerpiece. Don't make it too tall, you want to be able to talk across it.
I have seen some great centerpieces made from fresh evergreens and fruit. Interweave some Vintage Mercury Glass Beads into the greenery and add a few extra special Feather Tree Ornaments to give a nostalgic look. These items can be found under Collectibles, Holiday, Christmas - take a look!
Of course, if you don't want to make the centerpiece yourself, there are sellers who have pre-made Christmas Centerpieces ready to go.
Christmas Floral Arrangements
Don't forget candles, YES, you can get them on eBay! I recommend that you use unscented or pure Beeswax candles - you don't want to cover up the delicious aroma of your food. You can use pillars, tapers, balls, votives - let your imagination go wild. Here are some that I found for you on eBay right now.
