The Main Resorts - What's on offer?

There are three main destinations in Turkey that are on offer: Bodrum, Dalaman and Antalya, each with their own unique offerings. All three resorts are on the Mediterranean coast and temperatures averaging around 26 degrees in October with very little rain to spoil the fun.

Bodrum.

The Bodrum Peninsula boasts some of the best beaches in Western Turkey and has something to offer everyone. If you want to soak up the sun there are plenty of beaches and resorts to choose from. However, don't forget the culture as well. Bodrum is within easy reach of Ephesus, the temple that is one of the ancient wonders of the world. This ancient city is one of the most visited attractions in Turkey and is well worth a visit, even for those who are not all that interested in the ancient world.

Pamukkale is also within easy reach of Bodrum. This magnificent geological treasure has the appearance of freshly fallen snow, and mineral deposits have formed a cascading travertine waterfall. The best place to view the falls is from the top and although visitors are only allowed to walk along a narrow path through the waterfall (barefoot); for a small fee you can swim amongst the fallen columns at the Pamukkale Thermal Baths. Combined tickets are available for both Pamukkale and the Thermal Baths.

Dalaman

Known as the Turquoise Coast, this varied and unspoilt part of Turkey is an ideal place to take holidays to Turkey in October. The main resorts are centred around Dalaman, with Olu Deniz and Marmaris the main tourist resorts. There is plenty to do. Why not visit the warm waters of the azure lagoon and beach. Or take the Kekova Adasi boat trip. This uninhabited island offers a beautiful straight of calm waters and numerous islets. During the trip you will be able to see Teimiussa, a large necropolis and Lycan tombs that sit just above the waterline. Day trips to the Greek island of Rhodes is also available.

Antalya.

Protected by the mountains to the North, the coast around Antalya offers warmer summers than its popular counterparts to the West. Some of its best offerings are the ancient ruins that dot the coast. Perge is the most complete site along the coast and the ancient city is well worth a visit. For those wanting a little more adrenaline there is white water rafting on the Koprulu River.

Flights.

Flights are available from the following airports to all three destinations with On The Beach:

Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Doncaster and Glasgow.

Flights are also available from Cardiff, Bristol, Belfast, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle but are a little more expensive.
