Holly Hobbie Dolls, Movies and Gift Sets

When I was a little girl growing up in the 80s, I loved to collect Holly Hobbie dolls, wall hangings and more. Holly Hobbie is more than just a doll made popular in the 80s, she was a living woman! Holly Hobbie was born in 1944 in the USA. She became a writer / illustrator and created a character that she named after herself. Who was Holly Hobbie (the animated character)? She was a little girl that wore a dress made out of rags and a very large bonnet. I thought she was just adorable. In fact, when I had my first daughter I dressed her in little dresses with bonnets just like Holly Hobbie! Another interesting fact about Holly Hobbie is that she loves cats.

In the 1970s the real Holly Hobbie sold her illustrations of the little girl known as Holly Hobbie to American Greetings. It became very popular and in 1974 Knickerbocker Toys licensed the rag doll. In 1980 she was introduced again, this time she was no longer a rag doll. In 2006, she was redesigned again and was introduced as Holly Hobbie and Friends: Surprise Party. Mattel released a new version of the doll and her friends.
