Philatelists are overjoyed at the quality and quantity of USA postage stamps issues that feature famous legends of the silver screen. But it not just postage stamp collectors that treasure these stamps because these tiny paper images of stars we love are real gems. It seems such a shame to stick these small bits of paper on envelopes to mail a letter. Many people who go to the Post Office to buy a stamp such as the one featured will automatically buy a second one to keep, such is the beauty of the stamp and the memories evoked by these legendary Hollywood stars. Collecting stamps is great fun!

All legends on one sheet of postage stamps
20 America's West postage stamps were issued by USPS in 1994. This was the first installment of the Classic Hollywood Collection of the famous America.West. 16 individuals are featured plus 4 Wild West topic Stamps. Those featured include Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp, Wild Bill Hickok, Annie Oakley, Geronimo and Chief Joseph. The remainder are the 4 general Western Scenes. This is a great set of history stamps contained on just one sheet. This is a great time to start stamp collecting because there is so much variety to choose from.

- Hi Cumberland and thank you for your comment. I am happy that you liked the article. Stamp collecting allows us the 'nothing in particular' choice in what we collect. I just get a buzz when i see a new issue that breaks new ground and is innovation like the new scratch and sniff stamps that some countries have issued.

My favorite legend stamps are the Gregory Peck and Katharine Hepburn ones. The black and white contrast works so well.
