Welcome To Hollywood Dolls
Hollywood has always had a way of spreading its magic by the means of one artist inspiring another. Once an artist is touched by another artist, often the magic of creation begins. This site is devoted to artists of one of a kind (ooak) dolls whose creations celebrate the beauty of their favorite celebrity. Hollywood Dolls is history as seen through the eyes of other artists. Celebrity Dolls have been around since at least the 1800s. Below is an article from Wikipedia that briefly outlines their history.
The purpose of this site is to promote the arts and the artists who specialize in creating OOAK (one of a kind) Hollywood Dolls. The lovely picture you see to the left is a fine example of the artistry you will find here.
The doll shown is the winner of the 2008 Hollywood Dolls Best In Show, and has been crowned the new Ambassador of Hollywood Dolls. This beautiful 1/6 scale Mattel "Cher" doll was meticulously repainted by the talented artist Laurie Everton titled, "Cher the 80s: A Tribute."
Congratulations to all the 2008 Hollywood Doll winners and nominees. Every artist whose creation made it to the finals is a winner, along with every artist whose creation makes it to Hollywood Dolls.Hollywood Dolls is updated frequently, and more stars and artists are scheduled to appear this year along with updates about your favorite celebrity in the news.

A celebrity doll is a doll modelled after a celebrity.
Celebrity dolls have been in production for a very long time. In the 1840s, several famous ballerinas were featured as paper dolls. Also in the 1800s, various military heroes were portrayed as dolls/figures. With the advent of silent films, dolls of film stars were created. The John Bunny doll (a silent film star) was one of the first produced in 1914 by Louis Amberg & Sons. The first Charlie Chaplin doll was produced in 1915. The composition Baby Peggy doll was a huge success in 1923, also produced by the Amberg company. It is interesting that some faces are just easier to put on the doll. All the Cher dolls are really Cher but some Angeline's are a tad off. They were not OOAK but I almost bought my first Hollywood dolls. Muldar and Scully dolls. I was so enraptured with them. So I guess I know why people collect these kind of dolls.
