Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places!
Henry's obsession with collectibles has led him down many strange paths. To boldly go where no man has gone before, (well...maybe a few people). You know the saying "give a man a fish and he eats for a day but show him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime". This is how Henry is going to show everyone how to fish!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 10, 2009
Since age 5 back in 1973 Henry has been a collector. A collector of comic books given to him by his sister Phyllis, a collector of toys, cars, action figures and much more from that era that his parents bought for him (after some hard pleading of course) and much more.
"I remember the day, the FATEFUL day my sister gave me her comic books" said Henry, "she was moving out and starting her new life with her freshly married husband Ray."
"My consolation prize was her comic book collection."
Little then did Henry know then that this would be the catalyst that would start his collecting career. A modest couple of piles of Archie, Richie Rich, Tweety and Sylvester comic books along with a few Batman and Donald Ducks thrown in for good measure.
His mom Doreen helped him to do his very first inventory of 628 books not knowing someday the total would be well over twenty THOUSAND and still counting.
Henry's father Phil had just been through a few years dealing with cancer so money was always very tight. "We were on a limited income due to my dad's health and had to cut corners a lot" Henry said. "You learn to take care of what you have and respect stuff even more because if it gets broken, odds are it won't be able to be replaced."
"We learned to look for deals in many aspects, food, clothes, toys, whatever you could use while growing up." Henry's family went to (and had their own) yard sales and garage sales. Thrift stores were where they spent their money rather than at a more expensive shopping store downtown and coupons ALWAYS came in handy. Henry and his family learned to look for deals in more unconventional places and quite often were rewarded for their diligence. "I might not have been able to afford new toys and such but I did very well finding used items that were just as good if not better."
"My parents were a little older than usual parents so I received an older style of parenting that gave me a great respect for things that occurred before my time. TV shows helped me relate to them, shows like Perry Mason, Guns of Will Sonnett, Ma and Pa Kettle, Green Acres and Abbott and Costello."
All this has led Henry to this point in his life where he has spent YEARS of research in many fields of antiques and collectibles. Mostly which is to open an online vintage comic book store in the next few months. Through all this Henry has come to realise that he has a responsibility to his fellow collectors, to help them find the items they love to collect as well.
"I know so many people that collect stuff but really don't know where to look for them, I turn research into an art form and I want to help them find what they love because I know what goes through a true collectors mind and the satisfaction of finding the missing piece of a puzzle."
Henry's website youcollectweconnect.com was designed with the collector in mind, to offer viable leads and to educate the newer members of the World Wide Web to the ways of striking gold (so to speak). It is a great resource of information not only to collectors but to anyone looking for something in particular whether they collect anything or are just looking for a friend.
The website is informative and easy to navigate with many fun pictures of some of Henry's favourite collectibles. If you have any questions about it Henry invites you to simply email him, he would be happy to talk with you about your collecting needs.
