This lens will tell you a little about Google's project - Knol - using my Holsters Knol as an example.

In my opinion, Knol isn't really a direct competitor with Squidoo. But the two are similar in that they're designed for people to share their passion and knowledge via a one page web format.

What is Google Knol?

Google Knol is sort of like Squidoo, but very different. According to Google, a "knol" is a unit of knowledge - expressed on a single web page. I believe Google Knol is more like a commercialized version of Wikipedia than Squidoo.

The knol I'm promoting here is a Holsters Knol I've created. Essentially, it's a collection of knowledge about holsters - all types of holsters.

Holsters Knol Wins an Award

Recently, my Holsters Knol won an award from Google Knol. The award is call the "Top Pick" award. You can see a list of my knols at the link below. The little ribbon icon beside my Holsters Knol shows that it won the "Top Pick" award. You will also notice that I won a "Top Viewed Author" award.
