A Second Chance for Cats and Kittens
As displayed in their official website:
We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. The majority of our cats & kittens come from high kill shelters. Through our application and interview process, we strive to make the "purr-fect" match to insure a loving lifelong home for those in our care.
We do NOT receive funding from any national organization, federal or state governments. Therefore, we rely on private contributions from generous and caring individuals to enable us to continue saving lives.
This animal rescue group operates in Arlington, Virginia. As previously stated, their sole funding comes from direct donations and support from people like you. They offer a second chance to cats and kittens whose would otherwise be compromised if it weren't for the support this group offers. If you live in the area, you should definitely check out their site - and who knows, maybe you'll find your new partner in crime in their adoptable pet list!
Contact them at homealonefelines@gmail.com for more information about a specific pet you like.

Current Needs straight from their Official Website
Donations! We are comitted to providing the very best to those who are in our care. Recently we have had several MAJOR medical emergencies which have drained our Emergency Medical Fund, the most recent being the need to remove one eye of a beautiful siamese kitten named "Mystique" who contracted a virulent infection. Please consider making a special donation in her honor which will allow us to continue to help the many others in need.
Foster Homes!
If you live in the Washington,DC metro area and have some extra room and alot of love to share, you can make the difference in a cat or kitten's life. We pay all medical expenses and pre-approve prospective adopters before they come to visit your foster kitty. If you already have a pet(s)in the house, a separate room is required in order to acclimate the foster kitty. A minimum commitment of several months is required to allow enough time for a forever home to be found. Please contact us to learn more about becoming a foster home and to receive an application.
Adopt a Cat Today
And start one of the most rewarding friendships you'll ever have
It is important to note that Home Alone Feline Rescue does not have a shelter. All of their cats and kittens are cared for by volunteers in their private homes. If you live in the DC area, you should definitely stop by their Adoptable Pet List and see what cats and kittens they have in their program. Pre-approved applicants can meet the felines in their foster homes on an appointment basis. They are happy to e-mail, fax or mail an application upon request.
Pre-adoption homevisits are the final step in our adoption process. Adoption fees range from $125-$145 and they include:
Testing for feline leukemia/aids
Vaccinations up to the age that the cat allows
Deworming
Flea/earmite treatment
Spay/neuter surgery.
For kittens who are too young to be altered prior to placement, the Home Alone Feline Rescue group require a spay/neuter deposit which is refunded once the surgery takes place (they also provide adopters with information about low cost options for this important procedure).
While they do consider out-of-area applications, the adopter must be willing to personally meet with them and visit with the feline(s) of interest. Under no circumstance will they ship or otherwise transport their cats.
The Home Alone Feline Rescue participates in a public adoption event on most Sundays from 12n-3pm at Chateau Animaux, 524 8th St. SE (Capitol Hill/Barracks Row). Only a few of their cats attend this event each week so please contact them (email) in advance if you want to meet a specific cat.
Here's a collection of the cats they have under our care. You can find them in our Adoptable Pet List. Browsing through these pictures you just might find your future partner in crime.

Mind what you Feed your Cat
Some Cat Diet Tips from Home Alone Feline Rescue
Proper nutrition is essential to your cat's health. Feeding your cat a high-quality diet, which includes at least 50% canned food (cats are descended from desert creatures and their bodies are made to get most of their daily moisture requirements from their diet), is one of the best things you can do for him. After all, with the exception of an occassional snack or treat, it is really all your companion will eat every day, year after year, throughout his life. Therefore, the choice of food has a significant impact on your cat's health and well-being.Cats are carnivores and need meat protein as the base of their diet. It's important to check the first few ingredients of the pet food to determine the source of protein. If the first ingredient is corn, wheat or soybean, the food is mostly grain-based and not what Mother Nature intended for our carnivore friends! Also, avoid any foods that contain by-products or chemical preservatives, such as Ethoxyquin, BHA or BHT which are known cancer causing agents.

All-natural foods can be found in local, independent retail shops - please contact us if you need help finding one in your area. Another excellent resource is Pet Food Direct which will ship the food to you.
