The easiest way to find leads is to buy them. Right?

Yes, that probably is the easiest way, but is it the best way? I tried buying leads, several times actually, because I always thought the next set would be better, more qualified, warmer, something better than the last set.

In fact, not all leads lists are created equal, some really are better than others. But in the end, they are all lists of information culled from a database or hits on a website or maybe even from an actual phone call. The one thing they have in common is that nobody on any list you buy knows you.

Is Purchasing Business Opportunity Leads Worth the Effort For Network Marketers?

The total cost of buying leads is actually the real dollars spent to get the list plus any additional direct cost to contact them plus the hidden costs. Hidden costs include contacting them repeatedly to make sure you milk all the leads you can out of the list; fine, that's not hidden, but it's also not necessarily obvious when looking at the cost of the lead.

Truly hidden costs are the indirect costs which are primarily time and opportunity costs. Time is easy. Add up all the time it took for the multiple calls during the introduction and warm-up portion of your sales process as prospects get to know you. Multiply it by what your time is worth and then add it back into the original cost of the list.

Opportunity cost is what could you have been doing if you weren't making all those cold calls and building confidence with the prospect. It is lost revenue, lost opportunity.
Think about that one a while. It's harder to calculate opportunity cost, in terms of dollars, but it is often more expensive that any other cost.

Don't get me wrong. I know people that have made money by buying leads, and it truly works for some business models, and some people. As long as the revenue exceeds the total expense, it's profitable.

After spending more money than I want to admit on leads, I became convinced that the fastest, cheapest, and most effective way to get a leads list .... is to generate it yourself.
