Alternative Home Cures For Yeast Infections

Homeopathic Cures for Yeast Infections

Upon first glance, the range of homeopathic home cures for yeast infections you find are not too dissimilar from those non-homeopathic varieties.

Typically you will find creams and suppositories, as well as oral varieties, usually in a tablet form. The most obvious difference between these and the more traditional western medicine varieties is that they are made up of all natural ingredients.

The creams and suppositories are designed to be applied directly to the affected area and act as a local agent designed to reduce the overgrowth of candida in this area.

Like their more synthetic cousins, these homeopathic home cures for yeast infections work in one to seven days to eliminate the itching and burning created from too much candida albicans in the system.

As pills are taken orally they take a little longer to get to the affected area and also a little longer to restore it to good health. The upside of course is that they are far less messy!

So Where Can You Find Homeopathic Cures for Yeast Infections?

Well it was once quite a job to locate natural remedies for yeast infections however, thankfully all that has now changed and you will often find them on the same aisle as the more traditional remedies.

One exception is tracking down the pill varieties. Locating this type of homeopathic medicine may require a trip to your local natural health food store.

The other option of course is to look for resources online and benefit from other people's experience.

Probiotic Yoghurt to Cure Yeast Infections

Or at least to relieve the symptoms!

Many regular sufferers prefer to take a natural holistic approach to treat their yeast infection symptoms instead of taking prescribed medicines for the long term.

Probiotic youghurts, or those with active ingredients designed to give you 'good' bacteria are very popular at the moment and supermarkets usually have several varieties on offer.

Eating yoghurt everyday that contains acidophilus is thought to be a quick cure for yeast infections.

Yoghurts provide you with good bacteria that are able to regulate the levels of yeast in your body.

If you don't like yoghurt, you can take an acidophilus supplement instead. This is an alternative method that may help to prevent yeast infections from even occurring in the first place.

Some people take the direct approach and apply the youghurt to the affected area itself the theory being that direct contact with the yeast will help to kill it off.

The problem with this is that it can get to be a little messy but it certainly seems to give instant relief of the itching and burning sensations.

Just make sure that yoghurt used for this purpose is the unflavored or natural variety.

Another Home Remedy For Yeast Infection

Try taking some garlic to cure your yeast problems

Another of the more popular natural remedy for yeast infections is plain old garlic.

Garlic is well documented as having very beneficial qualities of being both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal and is popular in many countries.

Research has shown that garlic can be a very effective against Candida Albicans, the fungus that is responsible for yeast infections.

Just like the remedy using yoghurt, above, garlic can also be taken orally or applied directly to the affected area. In fact the two most popular home remedies for yeast infection that you see written about are usually yoghurt and garlic.

The good thing about garlic as a yeast infection remedy is that it can be taken in several forms.

So for instance, if chewing a clove of garlic is not your idea of pleasure then you can either add it to food or take it in capsule form. Many stores now sell garlic alongside the vitamins and other supplements.

Several Simple Precautions To Take

As with most things medical, it is said that prevention is always better than cure, why suffer the symptoms if you don't have to?

This is true for most things including of course, yeast infections a home remedy for yeast infection can help in this.

To start with the basics increasing your intake of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and reducing the amount of refined sugar and processed carbohydrates you consume is the best natural home remedy for yeast infection problems.

Right from the off, you are boosting your immune system and giving your body every chance of fighting off infections.

A second oft quoted preventative measure is to consume a daily serving of proactive yogurt or a supplement of acidophilus.

The purpose of eating this is to keep the good bacteria in your body healthy and in the right quantity. This helps to prevent growth of the bad bacteria that invades your body and causes various infections.

It is also important to keep your crotch area clean and dry, in actual fact this is the most common area for yeast infections to occur.

Never remain in wet swimming trunks or sweaty workout clothing for very long after you have exercised, and always choose cotton underwear that will stay drier.

Some Other Home Cures For Yeast Infection

In order to treat the itching and burning from a yeast infection, try using ice packs or treating yourself to a nice warm bath, whichever feels right at the time.

Just be aware that any oils or salts you use could irritate rather than soothe your skin.

Some people recommend an application of apple cider vinegar to the affected area to keep yeast infection symptoms at bay.

Home Cures For Yeast Infection

When You Are Pregnant

Home cures for a yeast infection takes on a different slant when you are pregnant because of the general reluctance from doctors to presecribe certain medicines to prevent harm to the baby.

Therefore, you need to seek out alternative remedies of the natural variety instead.

Firstly, try to avoid eating foods that contain yeast in the first place. This includes most bread products and of course beer, which I'm sure you wouldn't be consuming anyway!

Secondly practice a very strict hygiene regime, make sure you bathe regularly and wear loose fitting clothing, preferably cotton based fabric.

I have said it before on this page but consuming and applying natural probiotic yoghurt every day can help to add to the levels of good bacteria within your body and heal a yeast infection during pregnancy more quickly as well.

Try Tea Tree Oil With Caution

You may have heard that tea tree oil applied locally to the infected area is a good home cure for yeast infections.

However, I would advise caution, findings on this are at best, vague. There are claims of some positive clinical findings but at his stage it is best to be sceptical.

Whatever you do make sure that you dilute tea tree oil as it should never be applied to the skin at full strength.

Home Cures For Yeast Infection - A Warning

Not all medicines are clean

On July 15 this year Roxanne Laboratories recalled various samples of sodium based medicines used to treat hyperkalemia.

Tests conducted on the samples revealed the presence of a variet of yeast, which if given to a patient with a weakened immune system could have caused a serious yeast infection problem.

If you have taken any medicine recently to treat hyperkalemia and developed an itching, burning rash then you should consult your doctor immediately.

Yeast Infection Vaccine Anyone

Mice give up their life for yeast vaccine

In the news recently there was a piece about a controlled experiment being carried out on mice.

The expriment was to find out if a yeast infection vaccine that had been developed did in fact work.

In the usual way there were two sets of mice for this experiment one that had nothing but a placebo and the other set that had the vaccine.

Both sets were then given large doses of Candida Albicans and the results studied.

Of the group which had the vaccine mnay survived but the ones without almost entirely perished, so it seems the vaccine has potential.

You do have to ask however, why give such large doses of the fungus so killing off the placebo group?

Candidiasis - Another Name For Yeast Infections

Candidiasis or thrush is a fungal infection (mycosis) of any of the Candida species, of which Candida albicans is the most common. Candidiasis encompasses infections that range from superficial, such as oral thrush and vaginitis, to systemic and potentially life-threatening diseases. Candida infections of the latter category are also referred to as candidemia and are usually confined to severely immunocompromised persons, such as cancer, transplant, and AIDS patients.

Superficial infections of skin and mucosal membranes by Candida causing local inflammation and discomfort are however common in...

Honey As A Home Cure For Yeast Infection

Honey is a natural astringent and as such is a very effective natural remedy against many infections.

The problem with using honey for yeast infections is that it is very sticky by nature but you have to weigh this against the rumour that it apparently works wonders.

A good way to use honey is to apply it directly to the affected area. Apply it liberally and leave it on for half an hour.

After this wash it off perhaps with a nice warm bath.

Doing this morning and night should start to show some early signs of relief very quickly.
