Is your period late and are you curious how soon you can see an accurate reading from a home pregnancy test? If you go to the store, you will find alot of products that claim that you can get an accurate reading as soon as the day your period is late. Learn precisely how accurate that is and what can happen if you use the home pregnancy test too early.

If you go to the store to get your pregnancy test, you may notice a variety of products promising you accurate test results if you are as little as one day late. The truth is that while your pregnancy maight be detected this early, it might not be as well.

You may use one of these otc pregnancy tests as soon as your period is late, but it may be too soon and the test might return a false negative result. It is considered best to try and wait a week after your period is late to take an over the counter home pregnancy test.

Another way to help ensure that you get the best reading is to take the home pregnancy test first thing in the morning when your urine has been in your bladder for a longer time. The first urine of the day has the strongest ammount of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) which is the hormone that most modern pregnancy tests detect.

Be sure to thoroughly read and follow the specific directions that came with the pregnancy test. Every test is different and with some have specific things you must do.

Typically, taking a home pregnancy test is easy. You simply hold the device under your flow of urine for several seconds. Next, you just wait awhile for the results. Look at the example that came with the test to know exactly what to look for in the test.

If you get a negative result and you still have not had your period after another few days, you can always test again or call your OBgyn. A doctors office will use urine testing but also can do a blood test that is more accurate at determining a pregnancy.
