Home Remedies for Treating Acne

There is no need to spend a lot of money on fancy face care products. These home remedies are less expensive and work just as good, if not better. For example, a dab of toothpaste on a pimple can clear it up overnight. This lens explores home remedies for treating acne.

Home Remedies for Treating Acne

All home acne remedies should include a healthy diet. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and drink a lot of water, daily.

Use tea tree oil from melaleuca alternifolia, an Australian tree. It has antibacterial activity. A 5 percent solution is as effective as a 5 percent solution of benzoyl peroxide with fewer side effects. Tea tree oil is also known to stop cold sores dead in their tracks too.

Use a cotton ball to apply liquid vitamin E on affected areas daily. Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and is beneficial for the skin.

For skin blemishes, apply honey. Honey is known to kill bacteria.

For acne lesions, apply Aloe Vera juice twice a day to speed up the healing process. Aloe Vera is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

Use rose water to wash your face 2-3 times daily.

To get pimples to disappear quickly, use ground nutmeg with milk and apply on the affect area.

Mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice with 1 teaspoon finely ground cinnamon powder and apply on affected areas frequently.

Lavender is known for its antiseptic and anti-fungal properties. Wash your face daily with 1 part lavender essential oil to 10 parts water. Use Lavender oil added to chamomile to treat eczema on the skin.

Another method is to massage your face with the skin of lemon before washing your face with warm water.

To strengthen the skin's resistance to acne, take vitamin B5 and zinc supplements daily.

Treat large pours on your face with a paste of sandalwood powder with masoor dal.

To reduce a swollen pimple, apply toothpaste on it and leave over night. Use paste toothpaste, not the gel type.

Cucumber is refreshing for your skin and can prevent acne. Apply on your face and leave on for about 20 minutes before washing with warm water.

Essential oils should be diluted with water or used with other oils or lotions. Never apply an essential oil straight from the bottle onto your skin.

Do not use any of these remedies without consulting your doctor first, especially if you are pregnant.
