Home remedy for head lice

Head lice LOVE humans. They can be found on human neck and hair and actually can't survive longer than 24 hours away from the human host. They feed off of human blood and use their six legs to firmly attach to the hair shaft. Female lice lay eggs (nits) whose color can range from white to gray. If you're naturally dark haired, gray nits are a nightmare! White ones are difficult to detect if you're a blonde. If the incubation is successful, they morph into baby nymphs. From there, they grow into a full-grown louse.

So, is there a home remedy for head lice that will help you get rid of the itch, the awful crawling sensation, and stigma? Yes there is!

You can't really "kill them" in the true sense of the word. Home remedy for head lice smothers them, makes them dizzy so that they can be easily removed. If you've ever seen head lice in action, you've noticed how fast they move. Knocking them out helps you remove them easily from the hair shaft.

Tea tree oil home remedy for head lice

Tea tree oil can not only be used as a home remedy for head lice; it is a potent antigungal agent that annihilates fungal infections (Athlete's foot for example). At the same time, it is an anti-inflammatory agent used to prevent and clear out an ongoing infection and inflammation.

What you'll need:

* 20 drops of tea tree oil
* 2 oz of olive oil
* 10 drops each of: rosemary essential oil, lavender essential oil, and lemon essential oil

Preparation

* Combine the ingredients and apply to dry hair
* Cover with shower cap, wrap a towel around it, and leave on for 2 hours
* Rinse off using a regular shampoo until you remove all the residue

Use a head lice comb (fine comb). You can either buy one specially made for head lice or simply use a fine tooth comb. Comb out what's (if anything) is left.

Wash your hair regularly. Head louse are NOT a sign of bad hygiene (boy I wish someone told me that when my son got them).
They can be embarrassing and make you feel "dirty" but don't fall for that,
