From the lens It's true - Dad can homeschool his kids too.

Thanks for sharing this...I think often times Dad's feel excluded from the home-school process (and therefore often don't support it). Try to include Dad (if he is in the picture) and give him a specific class to teach when he arrives home from work in the evening. Many times getting Dad involved is the best support group you could have. (Also, if mom makes more $ and one of the parents is going to stay home to home-school, Dad is actually a good choice.)

I'm only 11 minutes into the Robinson Curriculum video and am really enjoying it. As he says, I'm not the norm. I'm a DAD who's interested interested in learning more about homeschooling for increasing academics, and limiting political propaganda. Of the lenses I've looked at so far, I'm REALLY enjoying this one. Thanks!

Wow, great inspirational lens. I home schooled my grandson for a while and it was great. He learned more in a few months with me than in several years at school. 5* and fave

What a wonderful lens... I love your informative approach to homeschooling. My Daughter home schools her three, and my wife and I get to help out on occasion. I like to do mini lessons in science and math, my wife enjoys the reading assignments. You can see my daughter here... http://www.squidoo.com/John-3-16-SayYou#module23129412

5* lens. I was a homeschooled child from 6th grade to graduation. My children do attend public school, however, I am very involved in homework, study and education enrichment. I believe my homeschooled years attributed greatly to my self-starting career and motivation to my children.
  • Evelyn_Saenz Sep 21, 2008 @ 4:58 am | delete
We unschooled until my daughter went to 7th grade. It was the best education any child could have. She just graduated Outstanding Senior from a class of 850 students and attends the school of her choice. She has much better social skills than my youngest who unfortunately has never homeschooled. We followed John Holt's philosophy but Dr. Robinson is also inspiring.

15 minutes a day of direct teaching certainly seems to be enough but learning takes place every minute no matter where you are. Those minutes, however, are more educational spent in the woods or at a museum than in line waiting for another class.

Very interesting lens. My youngest just started at a charter school based on Essential School principles, and is loving every minute of it. I am considering sending my older daughter there, but if she can't go, maybe homeschooling would be a wiser choice than where she is now.

Good information on home schooling. Yes, dad can do it, too. Just not all moms and dads.

    5*

Excellent lens on home-schooling. My husband and I both home-schooled all of our children at some points in their education. Home schooling has paid of for us and our oldest is in her third year of college and she is only 18. Our second is a 4.0 scholar/athlete, and the remaining three are dong similarly well.
Blessed by a Squid Angel today! :)

I have huge respect for Dr. Robinson and his curriculum. It's great to read a couple more success stories. Congratulations to you on bringing up two very wonderful daughters who will be successful in the future in whatever they do. You did good! 5* on the lens, too!

Hey Monika! Nice lens. Dr. Robinson is an inspiration. I'm a home schooler, too, and am trying to learn to balance my new business with school time - suffice to say I need to improve my time management skills.

By the way, I reached your lens by following the link you posted at Libertarian Moms. Thanks for sharing!

Wow. That was inspiring. Thank you! I especially liked the parts about Jerusalem and Germany. It's surprising how many people think that homeschoolers do not out-score public school counterparts. I will put your link on my blog, and refer back to it later when I get back to home schooling.
