Home Solar Panels

Is it realistic for everyday people to get solar panels installed in their homes? Does it cost too much, and what are the energy savings? Are there less expensive options for those who aren't ready to install a full solar power system for their home?

Home Solar Panels

Up until the last few years, when people switched to using solar energy for their homes, it was primarily due to was environmental considerations - and perhaps in a few cases it was due to being located in remote areas, where regular grid power was not available.

The rapid advancement of solar energy technology over the last few years has, however, provided us with cheaper and more effective solar panels which are capable of providing a significant amount of energy.

If you combine this fact with the rising fossil-fuel costs, you can see we are rapidly approaching the point where it is just sound economical judgment that has people switching from conventional power, to solar power and other alternative energy sources.

This has given way to a relatively new trend of energy savings by installing home solar kits alongside conventional grid systems.

Home Solar Kits

To be honest, running your home entirely on solar power requires quite a bit of initial investment. While, in the long run, you would definitely regain your investment and pay significantly less for your energy, the initial investment is not something easily made by most people. Otherwise we would have every household running on solar power already.

There is, however, an intermediate step which can be taken. This involves home solar kits.

How Home Solar Kits Save Money

Home solar kits are specifically designed to be installed into existing homes and run alongside conventional grid power.

The advantage of getting such a home solar kit is that you can get something within your price range, and still benefit from free solar energy (and a reduced energy bill from your utilities company).

When using a solar home kit alongside conventional grid power, it is possible to reduce your energy bill by as much as 50%. But exactly how much you would reduce your energy bill depends on the size solar kit you get, and your power consumption.

Another advantage of home solar grid tie systems is that some power companies now allow you to tie your solar panels into the grid, and feed your surplus energy from your solar panels back into the main grid. This effectively allows you to use the "electrical grid" as a "battery backup." This is something to look into with your power supplier.

Some government programs even make it mandatory for your power supplier to accept (and pay for) excess electricity from your solar panels. Its all part of the program to fix the growing need for clean energy.

Each of these points should be taken up with whichever company you choose to work with when planning or installing home solar panels.

A Final Note Solar Energy for Your Home

As a final note, solar energy does make one more secure, as one is not entirely dependent on the utility company. If there is a power outage, you will still have a source of emergency power.
And, while the utility company may be able to shut down the electricity, they can't shut down sunlight.

Solar Panels for Cabins, Cottages, RVs, and Boats

These solar panels can be installed on rooftops of cabins, cottages, RVs or boats. These solar panels produce up to 400 watts and will charge several batteries at the same time. They are designed aerodynamically so as to reduce drag and stand up to high levels of vibration on moving vehicles (such as RVs or boats). Several panels can be connected in seconds, without any need for tools or rewiring. When your solar panel is charging, a built-in indicator blinks to notify you. The long-term energy savings, along with the reduced environmental impact, can be well worth the initial cost.
