In this lens I will show you several different types of candles and ways to enhance them as wellgive some ideas on how to use them as table centerpieces. Types and Styles of Candles

Decorating with Beautiful Candles

Candles can be found in a wide array of shapes and designs! There are round, square, rectangle and many specialty shapes as well! Hearts, flowers, animals and several others.

There are pillar candles, (long and slender) votive candles, (squat and short) tealight candles, jar candles, scented candles, and many patterns and textures to choose from.

Simplicity - Decorating with Beautiful Candles

For a simple but attractive look, group approx. 3 - 5 candles in varying sizes on a glass or wooden plate. Arrange in an attractive manner. Use shades of the same color or complimentary colors.

Christmas Candles

Decorating with Beautiful Candles

Now that it's fall and we are moving closer to Dec. I thought I'd add a few ideas for Christmas using candles. I love to use fancy plates, or cake plates to hold candle centerpieces, something a little different and more to your own taste. Below I used a shimmery star shaped cake plate that belonged to my grandparents. I believe it is called 'rainbow' glass, lots of pretty colors bounce off it! Just add some coloured glass balls and a ltttle greenery and you have a beautiful candle centerpiece!

Candles can set a specific mood as well as create ambience in a home. In a family room they may be used on a coffee table and lit in the evening creating a romantic or relaxating mood. In a dining room they may create a cozy conversation atmosphere. Candles can be used in basicly any room of the home, even creating a relaxing spa like feel in the washroom area! As candles are relatively inexpensive decorating elelments, one can afford to change themes and colors as often as one likes. Have fun and experiment with your choices.

Using Glass Candle Holders

Decorating with Beautiful Candles

This is a crystal candle holder that holds a single small pillar candle. It can be used to fill a space on a table or mantle or perhaps on a bookshelf.

There are many glass or crystal candle holders on the market! Candle plates, shaped candle holders, or hurricane candle holders. There always seems to be something new coming out!

Tip: A pair of fancy wine glasses filled with dried berries, nuts or glass jewels and a tealight candle nestled in the top makes for an elegant dinnertable centerpiece!

Add a Candle Ring

Candle rings come in many different designs. There are every day designs, holiday and christmas designs, several different color options and they can be made of different materials too! I tend to like the beaded ones. They can look very elegant when added to a candle or around a candle holder.

This one is just a fairly plain chocolate brown round tealight holder. I dressed it up by placing a frosted brown beaded candle ring around the base of it!
