The Automatic Bread Maker
The automatic bread maker is a fantastic innovation first seen in the 1980s. Before that, folks would need to spend all day, making and waiting for their loaves of bread to come out of the oven. It was a long-winded process of mixing and kneading the dough, and then waiting for the first rise. Following the first rise, the dough was again punched down and had to rise again before shaping and then rising a third time before baking. This process took many hours just to be able to enjoy a loaf of fresh bread.Very little effort is required on the part of the baker because most automatic bread makers are sophisticated countertop appliances that do most of the work for you. You just have to follow the recipe instructions for the type of bread that you want to bake, add those ingredients to the bread maker and set it to work. However, because bread making is more of a science than cooking, the quality of ingredients that you use will have a direct bearing on the resulting bread that you bake. Indeed, it may take you a few bread baking sessions before you start producing the perfect loaf but that is all part of the fun of home bread baking.
