Home Business Ideas

In my quest to brake free from my dead end job I learned many lessons along the way including a host of things that you shouldn't do. I joined a lot of home business opportunities that were losing battles from the beginning. My hope is that by sharing my experience I can help you avoid some of the many costly mistakes that I made along the way. It is relatively easy to find lots of people that want to start a home business but most people who what to start there own home business lack one key ingredient. They want to join the business but don't think that they can do the things necessary to make money at the home business. This is usually because the resource or the person that shared the opportunity with them did so in a way that made the person say to them selves, "man I can't do what there doing, I want to make some money but I don't have the skills or the drive that they do, they know way more than I do I could never do what they do." This happens all to often and I see it and hear about this a lot. In fact I can remember thinking the same thing myself a time or two.

Lets examine what makes a good home business good and what kinds of skills you have to develop in order to succeed. First you do not need to have a ton of money to get started. If you have been asked to put of several hundred dollars up to join and then your asked to jump on a huge auto ship or are told you will be billed every month for your participation in the business to the tone of a couple of hundred dollars each month than you may be looking down the wrong road. A good home business has low overhead and doesn't require you to put out more than you're taking in right off the bat. There is no way around the fact that you will have to put out some money to make money that's the way of the world, however, you should not be forking out hundreds of dollars for product or services without a market to sell them to. This is the trouble with most home business opportunities. They sell you on the idea that you can make all this money but never show you a solid plan to make it. We'll get into that part here a little later.

The next aspect of a good home business is that the home business appeals to an existing group or market share or fills an existing need, it must satisfy a current need that is missing, so people upon hearing about the business become a customer. All to often the home business opportunities out there try to market something that asks people to change there established behaviors. Let me give you an example of such a product. Right now the big thing is juices that are loaded with antioxidants that will provide you with the nutrition that your missing out on in your diet. Here is the problem with such a product (not that it is totally bad but it doesn't fill a need and asks the potential customer to change there behavior) like juices, if a person is not already concerned about there health or is not suffering from a condition that they feel the juice can fix for them than in order to become a customer they will have to change there mid set (I'm going to drink this juice to better my health) or (I'll take this juice and see if it helps me). Now the person is a customer contingent on the immediate results of the product because it's not part of there routine. We are creatures of habit so the best home business will fill an existing need.

The final characteristic of a good home business is that the company needs to have a system in place to effectively market the business or products of the business to others for you. This means that a person with little to no experience can plug into an established system to bring others into there business or sell the products or services. In a nut shell, a system must be in place to close the deal for the new home business owner, and at the same time the new home business owner is learning how to close there own sales and will be able to pass the system on to others in the near future. A duplicatable system must be in place so that each person who learns about the business through the system says that not only do I want to do this I can do this!

When you find all three aspects in a home business in place you have a big time winner on your hands and you'd better jump in with both feet quickly. I found 3 such opportunities and was able to quite my job and work on these projects full time. There is much more to say and learn about this topic but the bottom line is that you may want take a personal inventory of your life and find what means the most to you and what parts of your life need to be reworked. In doing this you may find that your happy with the way things are for you and a home business really wouldn't ad much, or you may find that a home business could give you the freedom to focus on those thing in your personal inventory that mean the most to you. When you're your own boss you live and die by your own hand and for me that means that the harder I work and the more I hustle the more freedom I create for myself and those I share my business with.
