Avocado

An Avocado makes a great first food as it is easily mashed. It contains plenty of fat- good fat, especially for a baby. An avocado contains all of Omega 3, Omega 6 AND Omega 9 fats. It also contains fatty acids essential for the baby's brain development. The earliest an Avocado should be introduced to a baby is 4 months and it should be ripe and mashed well to prevent chocking. It can be mixed with a little bit of milk or applesauce to thin it out. You can even add a little sugar to make it a sweet treat. Avocados are rich in Vitamins C, A, B1, B2, Niacin, B6, Pantothenic Acid, and Folate. Not only is it rich in essential vitamins, avocados are full of minerals such as: Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium and Iron.

Pumpkins are another unexpected food to make the list of baby super foods! Pumpkins have a great flavor, and like avocados, pumpkins can be used as a sweet food as well as savory. This is because they are actually fruits, although many people would suspect they might be vegetables. The pumpkin comes from the same family as squash, cucumbers, gherkins and melons. Pumpkins are also full of the vitamins and minerals that your baby needs in order to develop into that beautiful, intelligent amazing person you know they are going to. Pumpkins, packed with nutrients, contain vitamins A, C, and K in addition to Folate and Niacin. As for minerals, pumpkins are generous in that realm with Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium and Iron. Even though pumpkins are a nutrient that often get dismissed by parents as seasonal, they can be enjoyed all year round and are especially effective in building your baby's immune system to fight off those flu's and other bugs.
