Homemade Chili Recipe
My husband likes a good chili, a lot, especially a homemade batch of chili. He likes them spicy, but I don't like my chili too spicy. I've tried many different chili recipes until we could find one we both liked. That had some good taste and spice, but not too spicy for me, this recipe fits the bill. And as with any other chili recipe, you can make it hotter or more mild, depending on your taste.
This recipe is very versatile. The ingredients do not have to be exact, and you can change things up a bit, depending on your mood and what you have in your cabinets.

Chili Recipe
I originally received this recipe from my sister, and have since made many different versions of it. And of course, it is a crock pot recipe. Remember I said in another lens how much I love using my crockpot. :)
Ingredients
- 1 lb Hamburger
- 2 cans Chili Beans (Do not drain)
- 2 cans Kidney Beans (Drain)
- 12 or 16oz Tomato Sauce
- 12 or 16oz Diced Tomatoes
- 2-3 Stalks Celery
- Chopped medium onion
- Cumin
- Chili powder
- Pepper
- Spike
Instructions
Brown hamburger with chili powder, onions, celery & spike. Add hamburger mixture and all other ingredients together in the crock pot, season to taste and cook on low all day.

Many things you can do
There are many ways to change up this recipe. You can use stewed tomatoes instead of diced. We have used dark red kidney beans, light red, and even black or pinto beans, if that's all we had on hand. And you can vary the meat. Lots of times we use leftover pot roast. We save some of our pot roast meat, I chop it up, and brown it with the cumin, chili powder and spike.
There's no limit to what you could change around and make this the way you want. Serve it with some crackers or garlic bread and a salad, and you have a whole meal.
