Make Stained Glass Style Christmas Candle Holders
Create faux stained glass effects to improve the Christmas mood
Making stained glass Christmas candle holders isn't hard to do. Glass jar make wonderful candle holders and, with a bit of imagination and some materials, you can turn your old yogurt jars in lovely faux stained glass Christmas candle holders.
Here's what you need to make those Christmas candle holders:
- Glass jars - they may be yogurt jars, for example - that are big enough to place a tea light inside them
- Tissue paper sheets - preferably Christmas colours such as green, red, white, gold, silver...
- Craft glue
- Scissors
- Craft decoration items such as ribbons, mini-Christmas trees, balls, glitter, etc.
Instructions to make faux stained glass Christmas candle holders:
- Cut tissue paper sheets into small squares, triangles, rectangles
- Add a coat of glue on the jar and stick the small shapes of tissue paper on it in order to form some kind of stained glass decoration
- When the jar is entirely covered with the different shapes, glue other decorating items such as Christmas trees or snowmen
- Cover the whole jar with a new coat of Craft glue
- Sprinkle the jar with some glitter
- When the jar dried, insert a tea light inside
- Use colored ribbons to tie a bow around your brand new stained glass Christmas candle holders
Note: don't decorate the inside of the jar as you're going to lit the tea light.
Tip: you can also cut tissue paper into Christmas shapes such as candles, mistletoe, etc. and stick one or two on the geometrical forms in order to increase the "stained glass" aspect of your jar.

More ideas to turn your jars into Christmas candle holders

You can make Christmas candle holders out of many different containers. Indeed, stained glass effect is just one of the many alternatives to decorate Christmas candle holders.
A great way to turn a simple glass jar into an exquisite Christmas candle holder is using glass paint.
Just paint the jar a colour of your choice and decorate with Christmas themed scrapbooking ornaments that you glue on the jar once the paint dried. Put the finishing touches with a coat of glue and sprinkle some glitter.
Another alternative for making Christmas candle holders out of glass jars would be getting some Christmas themed tissue paper sheets. The Christmas candle holder creation process is easy, just cut the figures out and glue them on the painted jar - can be done on a non painted jar as well, in the same way you created the faux stained glass Christmas candle holders.
If your kids are old and skilled enough, they can even paint Christmas symbols and characters on the glass jars with special paints for glass.
For safety purpose, I suggest using battery operated tealight Christmas candles.

Homemade Beeswax Christmas Candles
Give a candle you rolled yourself this holiday season

Beeswax candle kits allow you to create outstanding Christmas candles! Indeed, this year, the trend in Christmas decoration is the use of natural elements; and, obviously, this concerns Christmas candles as well. So, I couldn't overlook a chapter about homemade beeswax Christmas candles made out of honeycomb beeswax.
Making Christmas candles out of beeswax honeycomb is easy as 1.2.3. Here's what you need to create beeswax Xmas candle lights:
- A few Christmas colored (red and green) sheets honeycomb beeswax
- Wick roll
- Decorative items such as petite flowers or pine cones, glitter, and Christmas colored ribbons
- Air dryer
To make beeswax honeycomb rolled Christmas candles, you're going to cut the beeswax sheet the measure you want your Christmas candle to be. Next, cut the wick a little longer than the one of the beeswax sheet you just cut. Place the wick on the side of the beeswax sheet and press. Now, tightly roll it so that you maintain the wick in place. In order to avoid the wax to crack and if it is necessary, warm a the sheet with your hairdryer. When the new candle is done, warm a little so that you can press the end of the sheet onto the candle. To give a flat bottom to your candle, rub their bottom over a warmed skillet. For the finishing touches, softly press the edge that runs the side of the candle and sprinkle glitters on the candle. Decorate with ribbons, flowers, etc.
Tip: Get beeswax sheets in different Christmas-y colours so that you can vary the effects and perfect the holiday ambiance.
