You may comment: "What a strange question!" You may even attempt to answer it with replies such as the following:
- I can use homemade solar energy to keep my beer cold (although in the UK they like their beer served warm -- but some say it's only a myth!)
- Have some beers up on the roof while installing solar panels for my house (just be careful, it might be a hazardous undertaking to get down from there if you've had one too many)
Although both of the above replies could actually be valid, I had something else in mind when I posed the question...
Brewery Reduces Fossil Fuel Emissions
However, the point I'd like to make is that SABMiller, one of the world's leading brewers, announced that by 2020 it will reduce fossil fuel emissions from its beers by 50% per liter of beer produced. The company aims to achieve this through greater energy efficiency and by utilizing renewable energy sources such as brewing by-products and agricultural waste. Brewery Uses Solar Power
Furthermore, Budweiser has more than 6 acres of ground-mounted photovoltaic solar arrays up and running at the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Fairfield, California. The system, which has a capacity of almost 1.2 MW, generates the equivalent about 3 percent of the brewery's electricity needs. The company is considering whether to expand the solar installation and diversify the facility's on-site generation of renewable energy by putting in a wind turbine. The solar deal was one of two major efficiency moves made by the brewery last year and part of a broader eco-friendly strategy adopted companywide by Anheuser-Busch.
The facility also installed a Bio-Energy Recovery System to generate more than 15 percent of the brewery's fuel needs by capturing the nutrients in brewing wastewater for conversion into biogas. Use of the renewable fuel enables the brewery to decrease its use of natural gas.

It's hard to believe, but this mower is a solar hybrid robot. It cuts your lawn while you sit back and have a beer.

Support Beer (and Renewable Energy) by Installing a Homemade Solar Energy System
Now, if some of the world's biggest brewers want to utilize renewable energy to reduce fossil fuel emissions, shouldn't we support them by installing homemade solar energy systems for our homes and kill two birds with one stone (not a very appropriate idiom given the green topic of this discussion, but nevertheless...):- Use homemade solar energy to keep our beer cold
- Install our own homemade solar energy systems to help reduce fossil fuel emissions
Clearly, we need more incentives to quickly increase the use of wind and solar power; they will cut costs, increase our energy independence and our national security and reduce the consequences of global warming. -- HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON
