Make A HomeMade Wind Chime
Or You Could Just Buy One
Making a Homemade Wind Chime
You can make a wind chime with just about anything you desire. This makes a great fall project to do with the kids on a weekend or after school. For starters, think of what you want to make you chime out of. The materials used will usually dictate the sound you will get from it.
I have made chimes using old silverware, cans, bottlecaps, pieces of tile, seashells, the possibilities are endless. I suggest if you are doing this project with your kids, let them choose the materials.
Then, all you need is string. Fishing line works best as it is easy to work with and strong enough to hold everything together.
Hang all of the "chimes" from a single piece. Tops of jars work great for the top, as do wood blocks. You are looking for something that will hold the weight of the chimes and not bend.
Then dangle your chimes from the edges of your top. Hang the top from atleast 4 points around the edge to keep it level.
You now have a keepsake that will last for years to come.
