Homemade Wind Power Generators

Across the plains where there is open land, with no homes, other buildings or large trees to break it up, the wind is able to move at high speeds. This is the perfect location for wind farms or windmills where the wind power can be generated and collected. However, there is no reason why almost anyone, wherever they live cannot have their own wind power source which can be achieved with Homemade Wind Power Generators.

The use of windmills to create energy is not a new idea, they have been used for hundreds of years. But now, in the current economic climate and with fossil fuel resources running low, many of us are looking again at this inexhaustable free resource to power our homes and cut our energy bills.

Go to Earth Energy for Home for information on how to build your own electricity producing wind power generator system for less than $100!

Wind Power

The collection of wind power has proven so profitable in many areas that some local farmers and ranchers are making money by allowing various companies to place large windmills on their land. Indeed they can make more money by doing this than their original farming or ranching buisnesses.

These huge windmills are sometimes 200-250 feet tall, with the largest (20 stories high) being located in Hawaii.

Of course a homemade wind power generator doesn't need to be anything like this size!

The amount of energy that can be produced by a home wind generator varies from day to day as there may be strong winds one day and only a gentle breeze the next - if you live in an area where there is often very little wind then homemade solar panels might be a better option.

There are commercial products in the market that cater to residential homes but you will soon realize that they can easily cost $1,000s. For example, a home windmill or turbine can easily cost anything between $4,000 and $10,000. And these are just equipment costs which do not include installation which is another hefty sum.

Do You Use Wind Power?

In my experience, since I have actually built a diy wind turbine in my backyard, I can say that it generates enough power to cut my electric bills in half. Definitely worth it and I have already seen a return on the investment. If you can do it and have the room, go for it.

Your lens is great! I am into < a href="http://sarasotageothermal.com/"> geothermal energy myself, but I realize that there is a lot of good to come from wind energy improvements, too. Thanks for the info :)
