Homemade Pizza

Pizza is one of the easiest meals to make, and yet we tend to order more pizza than we make homemade. Why is that? I think it's because people think that making pizza is a long, hard, drawn out process. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'll admit, when I first started making pizza years ago, it was a long process. Why? Because I was trying to make it look round and 'perfect' like delivery pizza. Then I realized the joy of making homemade pizza any way you want. Round or square. With lots of sauce or very little. With an abundance of cheese or no cheese at all. Once I started having fun making pizza look and taste the way my family liked it, I realized it really wasn't a hard process. Plus, using a bread maker, and it's almost no time at all.

Easiest way to make pizza?

Use your hands.

I like to use my bread maker to make the dough for my pizza. It's a simple and easy process, and I can put all the ingredients in the maker in the morning and have it ready for me when I'm ready to make the pizza. Whether you use a bread maker, electric mixer, once the dough is done, get ready to use your hands. Forget the rolling pin and trying to make it look perfectly round. Spray your baking sheet with oil, put a little flour on your hands, and place the dough in the middle of your baking sheet. With your fingers start pressing out the dough, like you would with a rolling pin. Start from the middle of the dough and press out to the edges, making it any shape you want. If you like thick pizza, use the dough recipe for one pizza, or split the dough in half, and make two thin pizzas. Get creative on what kinds of pans you use, how you want to shape the dough, and even the flavors you put in the dough.

Once the dough is pressed into the shape you want, pour on some sauce and smooth it around the dough, leaving a little room on the edges. Then add the toppings you like. Pepperoni, sausage, olives, onions, anything and everything you like. Plus, don't forget the cheese. And you don't have to just use mozzarella cheese, experiment and find the cheese that you like the most. We've used cheddar cheese, colby jack, parmesan, asiago and many other types of cheese. We've even made pizza without cheese. We've topped it with baked chicken and tons of vegetables. The skies the limit when you make your own dough.

I haven't had a delivery pizza in years. I miss them a bit but the homemade is SO much better.

I like delivery pizza much better.

Broccoli. Weird, isn't it? Try ordering that from a delivery pizza company!
