Home Made Cleaning Products and recipes

Ranked #25,292 in Healthy Living, #356,480 overall

Home made cleaning products is saving me thousands of dollars every year in reduced spending and health bills. I suffered from severe headaches and would get several headaches in a month, often bad enough to knock me off my feet. If I didn't lie down and close my eyes it would develop into a migraine. This continued for years and was part of my identity. I was a person that suffered from headaches.

That was until I started using home made cleaning products. My headaches stopped, you would think it obvious that if "stop regular cleaning products" equals "stop headaches", you can safely conclude that these cleaning products were the cause for my headaches. But no, I had to test this theory and what I found was spot on (excuse the pun). I used a shower cleaner and sprayed my shower, I was careful to breathe in as little as possible of this chemical but it was difficult to avoid all the fumes. True to form, my headache was back the very next day!

Hormones

Not many people know that regular cleaning products can contain hormone disrupters or oestrogen mimics and anti androgens (testosterone mimics). These hormones have been linked to breast, prostate and many other cancers and experts believe that our exposure to chemicals that mimic these hormones, leave us vulnerable to disease.

In December 2008 scientists from Rockefeller University identified receptors for hormones like estrogen and others in the brain and this discovery gives us a better understanding of how it is possible for a hormone disrupter to cause a headache.

I was shocked when I first heard a toxicologist say that the major threat for exposure to toxins is from chemicals and toxins around the home.
