Recipes, Tips, and Ideas
FOR YOUR FACE AND SKIN:Mash up a ripe banana, apply to your face and neck, let set for 20 minutes, and rinse off with cold water.
Mash up a ripe banana and blend with 1/4 cup plain yogurt, and 2 tablespoons of honey, apply to face and neck, let it set for 20 minutes, and rinse with cold water.
Make a paste of 1/4 cup unused coffee grinds, some plain full fat yogurt, and 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice. Pat on face and neck, wait 15 minutes, and rinse.
For dry skin, separate an egg, beat just the yolk, apply to face and let dry for 30 minutes, then rinse.
For oily skin, beat just the egg white with a bit of honey and lemon.
For normal skin, use both the yolk and white.
Wash your face with lemon juice to clean, exfoliate, and help clear acne. To lighten age or liver spots, dab on and let dry for 15 minutes, then rinse.
Make a paste of lemon juice and baking soda to rub on dry elbows to smooth and exfoliate.
Put Mayonnaise on dry elbows or knees, let it soak in for 15 minutes, then rub with a damp cloth.
For a soothing facial, spread whole egg mayonnaise over your face, leave for 20 minutes, wipe off and rinse with cool water.
Thoroughly coat your face with a mixture of 1/4 cup of powdered milk and enough water to make a thick paste, let dry and rinse with warm water for a fresh, rejuvenating facial. Add a little salt to the paste and use it to soothe sunburn or bug bites.
3 tablespoons of powdered milk with 1/3 cup of water works great as a makeup remover. Add more water or powder so it's the consistency of heavy cream.
Soften skin by adding 1/2 cup of powdered milk to your bath.
For "gardener hands" rub a paste of oatmeal and milk vigorously onto your hands and rinse to remove stains. It will soften and smooth your skin too.
For a luxurious bath, grind a cup of oatmeal in your blender, put it in a cheesecloth bag, add a few drops of your favorite scented oil, and suspend it under the running water as you fill your tub. When your bath is full, use the oatmeal bag as a washcloth to exfoliate your skin.
Dissolve a cup of salt or sea salt in your bath for softer skin or give yourself a salt rubdown to exfoliate and improve circulation.
FOR HAIR AND NAILS:
Rinse your hair with 1/4 cup lemon juice mixed with 3/4 cup water and let it dry in the sun to add natural looking highlights. Once a day for a week will maximize the effect.
Clean and whiten nails by soaking in 1 cup of warm water mixed with the juice from 1/2 a lemon.
Condition your hair by massaging mayonnaise into your hair and scalp, cover with a shower cap for a few minutes, rinse, then shampoo as usual. To kill head lice, many dermatologists recommend the same treatment, but leave the mayonnaise and shower cap on all night and shampoo in the morning, then comb out any remaining dead lice and nits. Repeat the treatment in 7-10 days.
To stengthen fingernails, plunge them into a bowl of mayonnaise for 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water.
