Discover How To Build Your Own Solar Panel For Your Home
Many homeowners are searching for ways to reduce the cost of their electricity bill. For most people it is the cost of energy which is one of the biggest drains on the household budget. Apart from choosing more energy efficient appliances you can also make savings by learning how to build your own solar panel.
Renewable and free energy is now very popular. It was not so long ago that alternative energy was seen as being inefficient for the cost of the investment, today this is not the case. Modern photovoltaic cells are incredibly efficient no matter how strong the sunlight or length of day.
If you are interested in installing an array of solar panels to offset the cost of your electricity bill then you have two options open to you. You could choose to hire a professional firm to install the panels or you could put together your own set up by choosing a DIY solar kit.
DIY solar kits are actually not so hard to assembly. As long as you've access to basic tools and a little knowledge of electrical work then you will not have a single problem. Besides, any kit purchased would come with a full and complete set of instructions and maybe even a video guide to help in the design and installation.
It is possible to build your own solar panels for residential use for as little as one hundred dollars which would in turn save you hundreds of dollars from your annual utility bill. If you live in a region with a lot of sunlight you may even be able to sell excess energy back to the national grid.
Many people choose solar power as it does not have the negative effect of using electricity produced from non sustainable fossil fuel. Solar energy would help to reduce your home's overall carbon footprint.

Solar power has several advantages
Solar energy gains in popularity every day. People are starting to realize that it is a viable energy solution.
1. It doesn't burn any fuel and release anything harmful into our atmosphere so its considered a green energy solution. Just uses our natural sunlight to generate electricity.
2. Just a simple one-time installation cost which is recovered within a few years then its all free energy from there.
3. It is very convenient to store the power in batteries and use it in the future. You can't do that with conventional power. When power outage hits, sometimes people panic but with solar you can feel safe knowing the power is there for you anytime.
4. Homemade solar systems are easy to maintain. It doesn't take a lot of effort and cost very little and you get to enjoy the benefits.
There is a step-by-step video guide online right now that can show you how to reduce your power bill by making your own solar panels.

Homemade Solar Panels
The primary item that you must have to put together a solar panel is a panel which is 12 volts or more. 16 volts is best however. You can purchase solar panels for a good price on ebay, and you will likely find them for prices of no more than a hundred dollars.
On top of a solar panel, a battery is needed. A small and rechargeable battery could be used. In general, deep cell batteries are the best to use in this regard as they are made for continuous use. An example of such a battery is a twelve volt lead. It is also a good idea to purchase a battery box, as it will offer you protection for the battery and the energy that it gives off.
A DC meter needs to be purchased, as it matches the DC input and the battery's voltage. These two items allow you to convert the solar cell's energy and administer it to sources of power around your residence. Inverters are needed if you plan on powering AC appliances from the solar panel.
Accompanying the products mentioned so far, a handheld drill will be needed to create a solar panel. The drill will connect the DC input and meter to the top end of the battery's box. Insulated wire can be used to affix the meter to the battery. The same process can be utilized to attach the DC inlet and solar panel to the battery. At this point, the product will be ready. All you have to do at this time is to seal the lid shut and leave the product out in the sun for eight hours. After this, you will be able to enjoy your own homemade energy.
In concluding, it is simple to create your own solar panels. The materials needed are a 16 V solar panel; an acid or lead battery that can be recharged and that is 12 V; a box for the battery; a DC meter; an inverter; and a drill that can be held by hand.

- Awesome content in this lens. Love solar power and you really laid out a nice argument for it. I would probably break up some of the longer text widgets though. Just to make it easier to read. Just a thought. Great lens again.
