How to make your own sugaring hair removal system in the privacy of your own home.

I know I cannot be the only girl in the world tired of shaving every day, well every other day or so, and getting unsightly razor bumps and still having the dreaded 'shadow' of hair. ew. I'm wary of gimmicks for sale on TV and I'm not too keen on having someone else wax my bikini area, and if I can do this at home with natural ingredients and save money while getting superior results, I'm definitely doing it!

Let me tell you, I am extremely happy with the sugaring method I've found for myself and want to share it, maybe possibly it will work for you too. I've included a few tips that I found out through trial and error, and a few photos too, strictly for informative purposes, so please don't get grossed out.

If you have been wanting to try this at home, I think you'll be pleased!

The sugaring mixture I like best:

There are lots of variations on the recipe, but this is the one I like.

2 Cups sugar
1/4 Cup lemon juice
1/4 Cup water

Stir over medium heat until mixture turns deep brown, about 40 minutes. Let cool down before using.
To re-heat, simply warm over another pot of simmering water.

Be Careful!

Hot sugar is not pleasant if you get it on your skin... please don't burn yourself. Let it cool first and test it before you go slathering it on.

How to sugar your body:

Step by step what to do.

**Let the mixture cool** Don't use it while it is incredibly hot!

Dust your skin lightly with a little powder to be sure area is dry.

Use a Popsicle stick or tongue depressor to spread on the sugar where you want to remove hair.

The hair should be about the length of a grain of rice, long enough to give the sugar something to grab onto.

Use cotton strips (I cut up an old shirt) to press into the sugar while on your skin.

Let sit for a few seconds and tear off quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth.

Sugaring is good for you.

No chemicals is a good thing.

This is totally all-natural so you can feel confident that it is safe. And you can feel good about being 'green' since you aren't contributing more packaging to a garbage dump.

Best of all, your skin will feel so soft and silky!

Yes, it actually works.

Please don't be grossed out by the photo, it just shows that this really works well.

I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but when I looked at the strip of cotton with the sugar mixture all hairy, I was really happy. It didn't hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would, and truly, the hardest part was letting the hair get long enough to use this method!

Work in small areas.

Don't think you're going to sugar your legs in one fell swoop. Take your time.

After you pull off the cotton...

Just a little tip for your comfort.

So after you rip out all that hair, there is a tendency for blood to rush to the area so keep your hand pressed there for a little while so you don't get really red. I found that a cool wash cloth helped too.
Not that it is really painful- I've had waxing done professionally and sugaring is by far more comfortable! Still, you're ripping hair out of your skin so every little bit helps.
