If Homer Simpson was your SEO and Internet Marketing guy. I'll tell you what, it would be great of he was working for your competition. You could pretty much start counting your money. One you know the lovable Homer is not exactly a hard worker and he's not exactly the brightest bulb in the pack.I see a lot of people on the Internet committing what I like to call Homer-isms. In other words, they say and do stupid things without even realizing what they are doing. Isn't that what Homer does on a Daily basis. The big difference is Homer seems to be naturally stupid - created that way by his brilliant creators. Part of this brilliance and why so many people love to watch the Simpsons is because virtually everyone watching can feel smarter than Homer.
Most people I see marketing do stupid things out of pure ignorance. They put their foot in their mouth ala Homer, without even realizing it.
So what types of things do they let me give you some examples:
One of the biggest blunders I see is people emailing or saying you need to try our products, they're the very best. Here's the problem with that even if the products are excellent.
First statistically the person comes across as dishonest and not credible. I mean think about it the way peoples brains work if there are a 100 different nutritional companies only 1 can have the best products and 1 out of 100 isn't vary good odds of having the best product. In reality this is not the way to look at products anyway, as you'll see later.
Second it shows absolutely no interest in the person. Think of it like this you walk into a car dealership and a salesman immediately blurts out "You want this car over here it's the best!" What would be your reaction to this salesperson? Most likely you wouldn't think too highly of him, after all he doesn't even know what you want or your tastes or needs are. If you were looking for a two-seater sports car a mini-van would hardly be your best car and vice-versa! Suppose you were looking for a pickup truck and the salesman recommends a car. Do you see the point.
Too many people just blurt out things without asking questions first. This makes them appear uncredible and very amateurish.
You must consider each person's individual needs. The best product is what's best for each person not necessarily what Homer Simpson recommends.
We'll continue with Part 2 of this below:
Getting Started with Internet Marketing as Taught by Homer Simpson (Part 2)
if for example there are 20 different categories of products (a product for the brain, a prostate product, a product for the eyes, etc) one company won't have the best product in each category. They may have the best brain and vision nutrition product, but another company may have the best digestive product. So as you can see picking the very best single nutritional product largely depends are what the person is taking the product for.
However, at the end of this article I will define the criteria for which the single best nutritional product would have to conform to. See if you agree with this criteria.
We've gotten a long way from our lovable idiot Homer Simpson. Speaking of which, have you seen the Simpsons Movie? I would highly recommend it - in fact one of the most common themes I have heard from people who have seen the Movie is "This is one movie I would look forward to seeing again."
The second example of a Homer blunder I see people make is the following:
They have a one track mind when it comes to their particular home business. In other words they readily reject opportunities to network with other home business people if that person isn't interested in their business. Never considering building a relationship with that person for the future. For you never know what the future may bring - that person could end up being one of your top distributors a year from now.
The point is don't be like Homer, take the time to ask questions? Don't just assume you know what someone wants. They just might surprise you. Plus it means you value and respect them. And this is a great start at getting them as a loyal customer.
I mentioned earlier I would attempt to define the criteria for the one single best nutritional product.
1. The product would have to support most major body support functions, like the brain, the muscles, the heart, etc. The more systems it supported the better.
2. The product in addition to simply supporting the various body systems would have to actually produce favorable results in many of those areas. For example would the supplement improve memory, improve muscle energy, sleep, etc. The more areas it benefited the better the product.
Getting Started with Internet Marketing as Taught by Homer Simpson (Part 3)
4. How long is the product guarantee? The longer the guarantee the better the product. Reason being the longer the guarantee the longer a person will take a product without results, thus increasing the chance they will get results.
5. The better the product tastes the better the product. Reason being the better a product tastes the more likely a person will want to take and continue taking a product. Thus increasing their chances of getting results. A product no one likes to take can't produce results if people don't take it.
Wow, as you can see based on all this criteria it's going to be tough to pick a single best supplement.
After all Product A could produce faster results but Product B might support more body functions, so what criteria is most important?
Let's rank them:
1. The faster someone feels the results the better - this typically means a person will stay on the product provided the product continues to work. A product someone stops taking is worthless.
2. The better the product tastes the better the product. Gee - this and Number 1 above are essentially equal. In fact the faster someone gets results will get them excited, but the better tasting product will keep the person taking it.
3. How long is the product guarantee? I've decided to place this as the third most important as this can keep a person taking the product long enough to get results.
4. Favorable results in a number of different bodily system areas. Obviously this one and Number 5 are down toward the bottom of the list because I've seen way to many people stop taking a particular product even if it was working because of the taste. And they'll also stop taking it after about 30 days if they see no results, especially if the product only has like a 30 day guarantee.
5. The product supporting a number of different bodily systems.

And if you think you have the top nutritional product please tell me why you think it is? Write a blurb about it below.
Note: I will continue to add to this lens with more Homer-isms. In other words whenever I see someone in the Home Business or Network Marketing arena do something bonehead like Homer would do I'll comment on it here. Of course I won't name names or make fun of people (too much). The main purpose of this is to educate you so you don't make the same mistakes.
And once again if you haven't seen the Simpson's Movie what are you waiting for - for it to come out on DVD?

Feedback on What You Consider to Be The Best Nutritional Product
I spoke in the article about how I would rank the criteria for what would make up the best nutritional supplement product. Rank these 5 in order of what you consider the most important with 1 being the most important and 5 being the least.
